The wonderful thing about growing your own herbs is that you can pick them fresh whenever needed - not like some that are sold in little plastic sachets in the grocery stores which look rather sad and often past their prime.
As the festive season draws near, I look at my mint and feel so glad that I have an abundance of it at this time of year.
I have already made plenty of mint sauce - one cannot have roast lamb without it and what about the peas - fresh mint must be popped into the pot when cooking peas.
Salads too - I make a lovely one which has apples and mint incorporated into it.
For dessert, a chocolate mint icecream is delicious with a sprig of mint as a garnish.
Nice long cool drinks with a sprig of mint in them is very refreshing.
Water jugs filled with water and blocks of ice are taken to another level when some cucumber and lemon slices together with a few sprigs of mint are added.
And lastly, when the coffee is served with a mint chocolate, the day is complete.
