With all the lovely new growth on lemon trees, it is not so nice to see these little critters chewing away on the leaves!
it is important to keep a look out for these caterpillars - when they are small, it is not always easy to spot them but if left unchecked, they get huge very quickly and can devour your lemon tree leaves in next to no time at all.
Commonly known as "orange dog" these caterpillars are actually very pretty but that is where my admiration ends as I know just how destructive they can be.
Due to the fact that I do not use any time of poisons on my plants, I have to rely on my eye sight to spot them when they are tiny and remove them by hand.
If they have managed to escape being spotted, and have grown really big, it can be a bit daunting to then remove them as, when threatened, they shoot out their orange horns in an attempt to scare you - and trust me, -it gives one quite a fright!
It is best to remove them when they are small.
They grow very quickly.
