Today was the day to harvest some of my garlic - there is still more, but I shall wait another couple of weeks for those as they were planted later.
The garlic was planted in containers so the bulbs do not get as big as those planted in the ground, but I am pleased with the results.
After harvesting my garlic, I trimmed off the roots and then gave the bulbs a wash under the tap.
I then drained them on a paper towel and after this I placed them in a container which was placed in the sun.
They will stay there for a day and then I shall bring them inside and hang them up to dry.
This is to cure the bulbs and takes about four weeks - plus minus - and by that time they will have the dry outer skin and will be ready to store for use.
When cured the bulbs will last for six to twelve months.
I shall do another post once all the bulbs have been cured.
Just harvested.
Roots trimmed and bulbs washed and put out in the sun for one day.
