"Can you see them?" she said.
"The stars. Yeah," he said waving his hand slowly in front of his eyes. "They're like pulsating. What do they look like to you?"
"They have different colors. Colors I've never seen like breen and rodiange. They're organic and warm like a womb. As if they have inner life. So beautiful."
"Hm."
They lay on a hill, surrounded by blooming flowers that glowed beautifully in the late summer twilight.
He touched her hand.
"Do you think we'll ever go to the stars one day? Travel with machines that can fly?"
"We don't have to go the stars," he said, playing with her fingers. "Because we're already in them."
She gasped. "You're right! Oh my gosh, we're traveling through space. I never really thought of it that way. That's so neat!"
"Oh yes," he said laying his head on her shoulder.
"But do you think we'll travel with machines?" she insisted.
He rubbed his face on her dress and smelled the scent of her. "I guess so..."
The stars throbbed in the kaleidoscopic sky.
She sat up.
"Big ships!" she said, her eyes wide open with dilated pupils.
His arm slithered around her waist and tried to pulled her back down.
"With tails of fire!" she said.
"Yes, fire."
He moved towards her. Lips straining for a stealthy kiss.
She slapped his thigh. "We could build one ourselves!"
"What do you mean?"
"Right now!" She had an intense look in her eyes. "Let's build a ship to go to the stars."
"Why don't we just lie down and relax?" he said. "Enjoy ourselves."
"But then we'll never get to the stars!"
"I suppose not but..."
She stood up and began walking hurriedly across the meadow.
"Where are you going?" he called out.
"To tell everyone the good news!"
