By sunrise, nobody could remember what blue looked like.

Everything happened in a strange and inexplicable way: the sky, the sea, and everything that carried that color simply became bland, colorless, black and white, always showing an absence that screamed for what had been lost.

Blue eyes became dull, and Daniela, a girl whose eyes had once resembled a raging sea, now had a dull gray, which also seemed to be reflected in her personality.

It was as if the absent color had taken with it the energy of everything in which it had once been present. The sea no longer lashed with its waves; it was like an enormous lake as calm as the Dead Sea itself.

In the sky, it was as if everything was just clouds, white and gray, and nothing more. Some birds, some fish, and some people were more deeply impacted by what was happening.

Daniela watched the news. All over the world, a different vibe was felt. Everywhere, people could sense that something abnormal was happening, but not even scientists knew what it was about.

It was like brainwashing. When people spoke, they tried to remember something they no longer felt or saw, as if it belonged to another world.

A week passed, and after having almost gotten used to the strange new world they were now waking up in, Daniela noticed a change in herself.

—Mom, run! My eyes are, they're... —Her mom arrived in a rush, and the girl looked at herself in the mirror, amazed, trying to remember that bright and lively tone that now stood out in her eyes.

Her mother looked at her and said: —Blue —and then she stood there as if what she had said made no sense, with a doubtful expression, until her daughter replied:
— That's it, they're blue! They've turned blue again, like the sea.

Daniela ran quickly out into the street, looked at the sky, and it was as if her simple gaze made the immense sky return to its color. She headed to the nearby bay on her bicycle, looked with those intense blue eyes at the sea, which also resurfaced in its natural tone, and its waves returned, bringing life back to the whole landscape.

The news went crazy. Blue returned, and everyone began to remember its strength—that hopeful blue, that beautiful blue. Its return alone was enough to bring joy to an entire world; the meaning of what was inexplicable had returned.

Some say that some being from another planet had stolen it because it was novel and masterful to them; others say that perhaps the color blue hid in the confines of the earth where no one could see it until we valued it again. But regardless of the theories, everyone knows it, Daniela knows it: blue returned to the world, and this time no one will be able to kidnap it.
