The door was rattled and shaken by the howling winds, and the rain lashed against the window glass. The storm had raged all night and well into the early hours of the morning. Here we go again, I thought about the boats in the bay, let the mayhem begin, for the sea was angry that day, my friends.
Sure enough, sometime later when I was in the area, I came across the derelict remains of boats that ended up battered against the rocks by the gale force winds. There was another one marooned nearby, but a modeling photo shoot was happening on top of the wreckage at the time, so I didn’t get a photograph.
On the way back along the seawall, I peered over the edge and saw life jackets floating ominously by the rocks.
What really happened that night, I wonder. Sometimes people brave those storms on the ocean and can't get to safety on time. More often than not, the boats are empty and drift on their own for lack of proper mooring. I often see large ships on the bay seeking shelter behind land when a storm approaches. Others are not so lucky, and they become another windswept story in the bay.
