Sunday greetings to all the hivers, today I will share with you what motivated the preparation of this pleasant, frothy and hot coffee with milk (a brown for Venezuelans).
During the week, my husband had booked an appointment at the mechanic shop to replace some parts of the car, nothing of great importance, just a change due to wear and tear. This garage is located in the city of Caracas, 40 minutes from our home. In addition, they would change the oil and filters and buy other parts such as belts, which are difficult to find in our area.
Before going to the workshop my husband took my daughter and me to a shopping mall to do women's activities (going to all the stores of interest) so we would have time for the car to be ready, so we agreed to keep in touch.
Once at the mall we visited shoe stores, sporting goods stores, women's clothing and accessories, cosmetics, household items and even a bookstore. Three hours passed and we were already exhausted, so we decided to go to my mother's house to finish waiting and before leaving we bought a chocolate cake for a snack. We started the walk that would take 20 minutes, now in Venezuela we are in the rainy season, however, that day the sun was on our side.
Two blocks away from arriving there was a downpour (heavy rain) of those that do not warn, do not give time to seek shelter, we were in the middle of the avenue and we had no choice but to keep walking. I put the cake in my purse so it wouldn't get wet and we accelerated our pace. When we reached the corner before the residence, we took shelter under the awning of a kiosk, but due to the number of people we were not able to cover ourselves, so we preferred to continue, we were already very wet.
While we waited for the elevator we wrung out the excess water from our hair, face and arms so as not to wet everything in our path.We entered the apartment, my mother was not there and we already knew it (she has been at my grandmother's house for 2 weeks to take care of her and I have my keys since I lived there), we took off our wet clothes and dried our hair. After we had dry clothes on our bodies (I left a stash of clothes in my old room for incidentals, just like my daughter) we applied the saying... When the cat's away, the mice have a party.
What he means in that case is that, as the landlady was away my daughter and I took the opportunity to do what she provoked us to do without supervision, ha ha ha ha, my mother is sometimes a bit fussy about her things and thinks we are going to damage something. I reached for her moka pot (greca) and set about making coffee to warm up the body and accompany the cake we had bought. My daughter continued to party and personalized the cake by topping it with condensed milk she found in the fridge and fruit ring cereal, strange but delicious.
I turned the black coffee into brown (coffee and milk) and we sat in the dining room to snack. I had already talked to my husband and we calculated that in an hour he would come for us, we didn't have that much time and we had to leave everything arranged as we found it. I felt like a child for a moment, making mischief in the company of a younger girl.
After enjoying the coffee (2 cups each, we couldn't leave anything behind or it would be damaged), I washed and put away everything we got dirty, put the wet clothes in a bag to take home and managed to take some pictures from the balcony of the apartment after the rain had passed. The clouds completely covered El Avila (Caracas' green lung mountain), only the foot of the mountain can be seen.
Soon after, my husband called to let me know he was arriving, I checked that everything was in order, we closed the windows, I put away the cake I had left to take home and we went downstairs to wait.
The car received its preventive-corrective maintenance and my daughter and I enjoyed a few hours of adventure. In the evening I called my mother to let her know we had been to her house. This is my story behind today's coffee post, as I write I am again accompanied by rain only I am sheltered in my house and a big cup of black coffee. I hope you like it.
I say goodbye wishing you good energy馃挒
