There are objects that, without making too much noise, hold a promise inside. Last week I bought some markers. The truth is that from the moment I saw them in the store I loved them; I didn't take them home that day, but I kept thinking about them and told myself: "I have to go back for them later." And so I did. Besides, my old colored pencils were super worn out from so much use and I could barely find them in the drawer, so I took the opportunity to buy a new pack as well.

One of the things that fascinated me the most about this set of markers is that it has 48 pieces and comes in a super practical little case or bag to keep them organized. But best of all, each one has a dual tip: on one side, a thick highlighter-style tip that is incredible for filling in or making bold strokes, and on the other side, a normal fine tip for more precise details and writing calmly. Seeing the variety of shades stored in their bag gave me huge excitement.

It's curious how we drift away from the things that do us good. There was a time when tracing lines, playing with letters, writing a few words calmly, or making simple drawings was natural, a refuge I went to just for the pleasure of creating. However, between university and work, the blank paper was left alone and the pencils ended up at the bottom of the drawer.

And the truth is we often believe that to do certain things we need "perfect free time" or grandiose inspiration. But the truth is that enjoyment doesn't give notice; sometimes it just needs a push as simple as opening a box of new markers and colored pencils, and feeling that excitement of trying them for the first time.

I'm not looking for a perfect work of art to come out. What I want is to reconnect with the touch of paper, with the soft sound of the tip sliding, with the permission to make mistakes and cross things out if necessary. Those little pauses—the ones we don't do as often as we should, but that give us back so much—are worth gold.

Sometimes we spend whole days performing at our best, fulfilling academic obligations, work responsibilities, and chores around the house, forgetting that our minds also need to breathe in a different way. Giving ourselves a space to let go of stress through a free stroke, regardless of whether it's straight or if the drawing is a masterpiece, is a genuine way to take care of ourselves inside. It is reminding ourselves that not everything in life is about producing or being efficient all the time; it is also okay to stop just because.

Today I decided to show them here, hoping that maybe someone else will feel inspired or remember what they used to enjoy so much before, but which due to lack of time or space they've had to put on hold. In the end, it is these small everyday rituals that end up supporting us with a smile in the middle of any busy week.

Because at the end of the day, allowing ourselves to play for a while, reconnecting with our hobbies, and giving our soul a breather is not a waste of time, but an investment in our mental peace. Taking care of what we are passionate about, even if it's just for a few minutes a week, is a very beautiful way to remind ourselves that we are still here, feeling and creating. So I ask you: do you have some hobby, some hidden passion waiting for you to decide to rescue it? Give yourself permission to return to it; I assure you that your former self will thank you for it and your present will fill with a very pretty color. I'd love to read your thoughts in the comments.*
