AI is a very important part of our daily lives. We use it for everything from writing to studying, designing images to editing videos, problem-solving to finding information. Unfortunately, as AI gets more powerful, people also learn to abuse it.
That leads us to a very interesting question: Is AI really the bad guy, or is it more about how people use it?
Technology doesn't have its own intentions. The AI doesn't begin to harm someone on its own. We give instructions on how we would like the technology to be used and take personal responsibility for it. If someone makes a deepfake explicit image/video of another person, we shouldn't just blaming it on the AI – people also need to be disciplined.
Meanwhile, we should learn to moderate our application of AI. While AI can do us a lot of favors, it is not wise to let it do all the work for us. If we constantly rely on AI to write, ponder, find solutions, or generate ideas, we will be deprived of chances to think and hone our skills gradually.
Sometimes what we enjoy most about our creation is the conceptualisation. Our flaws, notions, experience, and individual expression give character to our work. Show off your ideas. Use AI to complement and highlight your vision, not to do the work for you.
Therefore, asking AI to solve the problem fully for us is actually quite inappropriate. It can be more appropriate for us to have a little bit of problem solving first and use AI to check for mistakes or inform us of other possibilities. Likewise, rather than asking AI to do everything, sharing thoughts and experiences is more suitable.
AI can be incredibly powerful when harnessed appropriately. But having a powerful tool doesn't mean we should abdicate our ability to think.
The difficulty is not about having AI under our control. The difficulty is learning to control ourselves. Allow AI to help you, but do not allow it to substitute for you.
Use your own mind, solve your own problems, and let your original intelligence flourish.
