To start this year on the right foot, I will share with you the recipe for an easy and inexpensive soup, which we usually eat every first of January, to call for prosperity and that supplies are never lacking in our home, this beautiful tradition comes from many generations ago, and we still preserve it, with the faith and the conviction that all good things will come.
Para iniciar este año con buen pie, compartiré con ustedes, la receta de una fácil y económica sopa, que solemos tomar todos los primeros de enero, para llamar la prosperidad y que las provisiones nunca falten en nuestro hogar, esta hermosa tradición viene de muchas generaciones atrás, y aún la preservamos, con la fé y la convicción de que todo lo bueno llegará.
This is the lentil soup with smoked sausages, it is also called, "prosperity soup", my grandmother always told the story that this soup was made with lentils because it is circular and very similar to coins, they are also abundant and yielding, representing good fortune and prosperity.
Esta sopa, es la de lentejas con salchichas Ahumadas, es también llamada , “ sopa de la prosperidad “, mi abuela siempre contaba la historia de que esta sopa se realizaba con lentejas porque esta es circular y muy parecida a las monedas, además son abundantes y rendidoras, representando la buena fortuna y prosperidad.
To make this recipe you will need:
Para hacer esta receta necesitarás:
• 1 cup of lentils.
• 4 smoked sausages.
• Finely chopped vegetables (onion, chives, peppers and garlic).
• Pieces of pumpkin and sweet potato.
•Salt and pepper.
• Finely chopped herbs (parsley, coriander and basil)
• 2 liters of water.
• 1 taza de lentejas.
• 4 salchichas Ahumadas.
• Verduras finamente picadas (cebolla, cebollino, ajíes y ajo).
• Trozos de calabaza y batata.
•Sal y pimienta.
•Hierbas finalmente picadas(perejil, cilantro y albahaca)
• 2 litros de agua.
To prepare this soup, wash the lentils very well and place them in the two liters of water with the pieces of pumpkin and sweet potatoes, then add the finely chopped vegetables, the smoked sausages cut into slices and adjust with salt and pepper, bring to a boil for a about an hour, so that the lentils soften and the flavors integrate.
Para preparar esta sopa, lava muy bien las lentejas y colócalas en los dos litros de agua con los trozos de calabaza y batatas, seguidamente añade las verduras finamente picadas, las salchichas ahumadas cortadas en rodajas y ajusta con sal y pimienta, deja hervir por una hora aproximadamente, para que la lenteja se ablande y los sabores se integren.
To finish the dish and give it a touch of freshness, I added finely chopped herbs ... a delight!
Para finalizar el plato y darle un toque de frescor, agregué hierbas finamente picadas... todo una delicia!!!
