Visit and enjoy Wat Prasat, a 531 year old temple in Muang District, Chiang Mai Province, Thailand.
鉁嶏笍 Hello everyone. Temple trip in Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province last week. Yesterday I shared the story and photos of Wat Ched Yot, temple and archaeological site over 500 years old. Today I share another temple which is old, built about over 500 years in the Lanna Kingdom period, At the same time as Wat Ched Yod. But this temple has been restored to its perfect condition until now.
This temple is called Wat Prasat. Wat Prasat has existed since the Lanna Kingdom period (An ancient kingdom that once prospered in the north of Thailand.) Around the year A.D. 1492, 531 years ago.
About 200 years ago. Wat Prasat was restored in A.D. 1823. And a Lanna style sanctuary was built that year. The sanctuary of Wat Prasat has a brick foundation and the sanctuary is made of teak wood. The pillars of the sanctuary are circular pillars decorated with color gold patterns. Brown roof. In front of the viharn, there is a stucco stair king of nagas.
Inside the sanctuary there are many bronze buddha images and arches decorated with beautiful gold-painted figures of pairs of swans, king of nagas, and other patterns. This arch is located at inside the back of the sanctuary and connects the interior entrance between the sanctuary and the castle-like architecture. Inside the castle-like architecture there is a presiding buddha image of this sanctuary. A presiding buddha image of this sanctuary is a white stucco buddha statue in the posture of Mara.
This castle-like architecture located behind the sanctuary and architecture is a Lanna-style architecture.
In addition, the temple area also has a white pagoda in front of the sanctuary and the temple's chapel is behind the pagoda.
The temple's pagoda are an artistic combination of Si Satchanalai's square pagoda and Chiang Mai's circular pagoda.
The chapel of the temple is an ancient chapel. But I don't know what shape the original chapel was. Because it has been restored many times. Inside the chapel there is a bronze buddha image in the attitude of subduing Mara, 114 centimeters high. This buddha image is 433 years old. Unfortunately, the chapel is not open for people to visit and worship. So I didn't take pictures inside the chapel.
In other temple areas, there is a monk's cloister, a pavilion and a statue of a buddhist saint.
馃審 Wat Prasat is located in 4/2 Inthawarorot Road, Soi 3, Si Phum Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province, Thailand. This temple is close to Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan.
