How’s it going, Hive? I’m finally enjoying some quiet. I allowed @guthrie’s half brother to sleep over and bedtimes are the only area that we collide. I can handle all the other immaturity and dick jokes, but after 11:00p.m., I’m really starting to want my peace and quiet. Tomorrow, I’m taking
@guthrie up north to an Airstream trailer a friend is offering us for some overdue relaxation. Air conditioning, electricity, gas, water and a new pool, so the exact opposite of the kind of trips I take with
@ghostfish. I’m looking forward to a chance to catch up on some editing, and have some gaming time with
@guthrie.
So what have I been working on? As I mentioned last night, I’ve been slammed with photography in Minnesota which really doesn’t happen often. I’ve been working on Kong, Neverwel and Immutable Realms, all which fall under the @mirrorpool umbrella. Immutable Realms has been a lot of fun. This is an arts and culture zine that was funded by the EOS blockchain. There is a crowdfunding platform called Pomelo and through that and a generous grant from the ENF, I reached my funding goal and this project is actually happening.
@mirrorpool is handling most of the art and it’s been stellar so far.
The cover for this zine, naturally, is one of the most important parts of the publication. Yves La Rose, sort of the public face of EOS now that the chain is in the control of the EOS community, has always used the Twitter handle, @BigBeardSamuari. While consulting with @lovejoy on some of the art for this first issue, I came to the conclusion that a samurai with a giant beard would make a compelling cover. I used a composition that I generated on MidJourney to start the sketch for this piece and I’ve been working on it on and off for about two weeks.
After several days and nights of pencils, I moved on to inking this cover. I still do not take for granted what a revolutionary tool the iPad Pro is for artists. The fact that I can go do such high level work on a thin device that alway serves as entire computer is truly astounding! @swarddraws is working on the colors for this page as we speak and if all goes well, I’ll be able to release the first issue of Immutable Realms sometime during the middle of August. I just finished this comp mockup for what the issue may look like and I’ll be using it to apply for season 3 of Pomelo.
