Hi! I'm back with the 30-Day Blogging Challenge initiated by @tegoshei. I missed a few days of the challenge, but I will stick to the day where I stopped. I've been very busy and felt restless for the past few days. My work is not demanding but I was feeling down and unmotivated.
Now that I'm okay, it's time for me to continue the challenge. For the 10th day, it's about the best memory I have in high school.
Batch Ω
The batches in our school were named after a scientist. We were a batch letter O. So we decided to name our batch, Ohm, after Georg Ohm who discovered the relationship between the potential voltage difference and the electric current–Ohm's Law. With that, we refer ourselves as Ohmians.
I tell you, all of my memories in high school are the best. We had a swimming session whenever we wanted to since one of our classmates has a beach, ordered food in her uncle's restaurant, or watched horror movies in their house. I can't forget when we watched Exorcism of Emily Rose that instead of minimizing the volume, my classmate accidentally maximize it. We ran leaving her behind.
We also loved to hike from our school to the town proper. It's a 15-minute hike. Sometimes, we rode to the jeepney of my classmate's father for free. There was a time that Uncle let my classmate drove. During the vacant time, we played those all-time favorite Filipino games. Even we were seniors already, we kept on playing those games. There were times our teacher in P.E. played with us when she had no class.
High school is the best. Whether it was a funny or embarrassing one, the games we played, the naughty things we did, or a petty fight, it is still the best memory that I will forever cherish. I must say high school never ends. It is one of the ships that will never sink.
With that, I am sharing with you one of the memories that always give me a burst of laughter and joy. One of the main cast is not active in blogging anymore. She might kick my ass for broadcasting it.
The Party
From Kindergarten to High School, I studied in Mindanao Science Academy Inc. My classmates from kinder were also my classmates until high school. Some transferred to another school, and some transferred to our school. There was only one section per year level and in our batch, we were only 16 students. Although there were classmates transferred during high school days, we always considered them as OHMians. We jokingly said that we've had enough with each other's faces.
Our batch was said to be one of the naughtiest batches and at the same time, a batch full of intelligent students. The honor list was always full, and competitions of the top five were very tight. During the senior year, we were all required to take Mindanao State University System Admission and Scholarship Examination (MSU SASE).
It was during our Christmas Party when our Math Teacher who happened to be our School Principal and one of the Board of Directors, went to our room. Some of our classmates were terrified of her. At that time, I still loved math, so I was not included in the list of terrified students. When she entered, she noticed first my best friend's big sunglasses. The confusion was visible on her face and she was about to laugh.
Principal: Why are you wearing sunglasses? Your room is dark and you're wearing sunglasses. Can you still see the surrounding?
Classmate: Ah yes, Ma'am. This is part of my outfit.
While typing, I am laughing! Gosh! It was really hard to suppress my laughter at that moment while the drama was on point. Oh, how I miss my jumping kangaroo best friend!
Back at the Christmas Party, my best friend admitted to us that she can't see clearly. The windows were closed, and the lights were turned off. The struggle was real. She even asked me to hold her hands. The lights were turned on when our principal arrived. After her brief confrontation with my best friend, she then announced with glee that we all passed the SASE. We all leaped with joy and chant in unison, "Lechon! Lechon!" (roasted pig). And our principal said yes!
A few weeks later, the school had a feast in celebration of the passing of the batch Ohm in the MSU SASE. No one aced the SASE, but it was already a great blessing that we all passed. Even though some were planning not to study at MSU-IIT, they did their best to pass the exam. Everyone did their best.
