My Top Five Favorite Songs

Tired but not sleepy. I unintentionally skipped day 7 of the 30-Day Blogging Challenge by @tegoshei because I finished working at 12:55 AM. For day 7, the topic is about my top five favorites songs. Again, I was planning to have some modification for my satisfaction. I keep on defying the challenge. What can I say, choosing only five is hard, but I need to stop this. I've done it twice. This time, I'll stick to the challenge: Top Five Favorite Songs only.

Every summer, our dance group conducts a summer dance workshop in the morning and afternoon. At night, it will be training for the members and then practice the dance for the recital performance.

It was our summer dance workshop in the year 2016 that I heard Secret Love Song for the first time. The song was released months before our workshop. I don't pay attention to music like this. I listen but that's it. Guess I am a dancer stuck in an old soul.

A few days before the recital, the two dancers were required to have an all-out performance. It was performed and portrayed beautifully. I didn't notice that I was already crying. The song, the dance, and the performers fit perfectly. Even the dancer, herself, cried.

It's a sad song of forbidden love. The first stanza is already heartbreaking. Then, a cover by Morissette Amon was released. It was the only song cover of the Secret Love Song that I like!

This song was on the playlist when I bought my phone. I think all Huawei phones have this song on the playlist already. The song had a huge impact on me, especially this one line:

It's not until you fall that you fly

It reminds me that all the struggles I've been through molded me on what I am today and what I am about to reach someday. Being the eldest is a huge responsibility. I need to be the role model for my three sisters. My mother keeps on telling me that it's okay to fail but I should stand up again and fly high like an eagle. Quitting should never be an option, to begin with.

This song is really comforting. I listen to this when I feel like I am about to explode.

Brave Song

Brave Song is the closing theme song of the anime, Angel Beats! The anime is about the afterlife of the high school students who experienced hardships and trauma. They must overcome it so they can pass and be reincarnated again. I shed lots of tears in this anime then an ending song like this made me cry even harder.

The song talks about a lonely girl who tries to be brave by hiding her tears. She kept on walking alone, enduring the hardships in life to prove her strength. Then, along the way, she saw her friends waiting for her.

I have always walked alone. The cliff was waiting for me ahead
Even so, I kept walking, to prove my strength

But the song ended on how she will become a weak girl, shedding tears because she will lose her friends eventually

Someday, I'll forget the days I spent with everyone

This song never fails to cloud my eyes. It's very nostalgic. Then, I saw on youtube a Piano and Viola Cover by Animenz Piano Sheets. Ironically, this cover calms me. I play this song whenever I want to write, especially poems.

Like Ooh-Ahh

Just by thinking Twice makes me happy, especially Momo. She is my bias because she's the main dancer. The Like Ooh-Ahh is their debut song released in 2015. Whenever I hear this song, I could not resist but to dance the chorus part. It's like radiating the members' charm and positivity.

When I heard this song, I did not bother to research English translation. It pierced through me. I became a fan because of this song and until now, it is still my number one song of Twice.

Take What You Want

I've been thinking what One Ok Rock song should I choose. Almost all of their songs are my favorites. I write and erase. Write. Erase. The top five should have been filled with the One Ok Rock songs. It was hard. But I decided to choose "Take What You Want" from their Ambitions Album.

I attended their concert in SM MoA on January 29, 2018. All the expenses were from my blogging. I didn't use any of my income and it became more memorable because of that.

Taka, the composer and lead vocalist, sang this sad song with a super low background instrumental music. The spotlight was on Taka with the sea of yellow and red lights. He sang the two verses and then stopped singing. He just stood on the stage and waited for the crowd to be taken over by silence. It was so mesmerizing. It was one of my favorite songs and it made me love the song even more because of the concert.

They have a pending concert in Manila. When this pandemic is over, I will try my best to attend their concert. Hopefully, it will not be on the same date as the board exam.

And I managed to write only five songs! Character-wise, you can say that the first and second song shows that I am sentimental. (Well, who doesn't by the way?) The same goes for the third and fifth. However, in the third, fourth, and fifth songs, I want to show that I love Anime soundtrack, Korean songs, Twice in particular, and of course, One Ok Rock songs.
