I'm among those who get jealous of people when it's the weekend, and they keep shouting, Thank God it's Friday!
That's because I know nothing like a weekend; in fact, my life becomes more choky on weekends due to the nature of the hustling I do.
Nevertheless, a Wednesday once happened to me like a weekend.
Early morning on that particular Wednesday, around 5:30 am, I woke up to the tone of SMS. I checked, and it was 75k alert on my phone. It was a payment for work I had done for a client that she refused to pay, and I had given up already.
"What a good day it's going to be!" my mind danced for joy as I rumbled, stretched, and spread my body to all corners of the bed.
I login to Whatsapp and send a message to her, thanking her for finally remembering me. After that, I went on to my blogging work, did some engagement, and drafted an article.
I was still there on my bed when my room brightened up like heaven; it was "Up NEPA!"
The already ignited joy in my heart increased; who wouldn't smile at the presence of Up NEPA? Absolutely no one, except the people in the top cities who see light whenever they like.
I plugged my phone in sharply, and my PC and two power banks joined.
"Gosh! I'm not going to touch anything today; I'm not going to be near that iron today. All work without play can make Kingsleyy very dull." My mind relaxed as someone who's being controlled by good village people.
That was it. I stayed in bed, not touching anything work-related. I plugged in my sound system and began to shake the neighbourhood. It's not every day they hear me play loud music.
🎶"If I no get money, I get where to borrow."🎶 That line from Psquare's Collabo was hitting me hard, so I fixed it on repeat. My head was the one dancing for me because my leg knows how to disgrace me.
Time got to 9:00 a.m., and I got up and freshened up. I mean, I freshened up in a very relaxed way; there was no need to rush; in fact, I had a warm water bath.
I picked up some cash in my drawer and headed out to the market close to my house, where I bought a reasonable portion of goat meat. I made sure the skin part was added enough.
I returned home and made a nice pepper soup, a very standard one—an eatery's standard. It didn't take me long because I'm a fast cook, faster than Chef Dammy.
To my surprise, the light was still on, which was so unusual. Normally, light does not last 6 hours straight here; the electricity company thinks they're being cheated when it does, so they seize it in intervals in order not to feel cheated, but this day, I saw it last for 7 straight hours.
Omo! What's happening? Is the director of the power company having his birthday today?" I jokingly said to myself as I devoured my goat meat pepper soup while the room was shaking and banging from the sound system.
After that, I tuned down the volume of the sound system in order to catch some sleep. While others use blues for sleep, I used Terry G for sleep. You got it right; I don't have blues on my playlist; all the songs there are hahahaha songs. You can't blame me because I'm not a preacher of blues/love....Indaboski.
Taking a nap during the day is something I haven't done for a couple of years due to intense hustling for money, but on that Wednesday, I decided to break the record.
I had it—a soft one with nice dreams—and I woke up around 3 p.m. to find my music system still playing. "Omo! Wetin NEPA see?" I became more shocked at the presence of electricity.
Meanwhile, my dad says that when you take a nap during the day, you becomes more fresh. Immediately after I woke up, I checked myself, and I don't know how it happened. I saw my tiny, slim body add up a little (imagination wants to wound me).
When it got to 5:00 p.m., I attended midweek service, and all my church colleagues were happy to see me attend midweek service again after many years of not showing up.
**Cut, cut, cut!🎬🎬🎬 **
I'm yet to see such a Wednesday like that, and I'm hoping for it one day.
That's surely my most perfect day, if I'm going to have one. Anything aside from that is a OFF for me. Let me get a day to relax—no work, just eat, sleep, and enjoy.
Thank you for reading.
