Just like we all know, the traditional schooling style, even before this technology era, has never been centered solely on academic knowledge. It is very broad, and it becomes even broader when one studies in a very broad and advanced school. It doesn't just give one an edge in social interaction, as we always tag that as the next thing after academic value; it also makes one street-wise when compared to someone who was homeschooled.
While homeschooling can appear to be the best method when it comes to helping a student focus on basic knowledge and making that knowledge broad, compared to how standard schools have a zigzag manner of teaching and curriculum, the school system is still better for any student who wants to stand firm in a country like ours.
Way back when we were in secondary school, I had a friend who was always interested in politics, even at that very young age. He would always rally around to make sure he got "selected" as a prefect. Back in the day, it wasn't just academic performance that was used to award a prefect position to anybody in the class; one had to possess some leadership qualities, and one could also lobby around to be selected by the school management.
We attended the same church towards the later years of our secondary school days, and he brought that same vibe to church, always wanting to hold a leadership position.
It grew to a bigger dimension when we got into higher institution; he joined the politics crew from year one. The politics in the tertiary institution helped him financially a lot because he was getting money from everywhere through the political games.
Homeschooling can never expose someone to this level of experience. Homeschooling will only keep you focused on the subject or field you are studying, and one may never discover their potential in other fields.
So yeah, I'm a big supporter of the traditional school method. That's what my children will attend when I have a family, and if I had my way, I would want them to attend public schools and not private schools. I know my wife wouldn't agree to this. Lol.
During my days in school, even though I was less social with people, the people I met along the way are still very much in my life till today. We are all adults and grown, but that bond is still very much intact, and we help each other the way families do. The homeschooling style can make someone become friends with books and phones, but nothing more.
Also, the traditional school method has a way of instilling some disciplinary measures into one's life, far beyond what the homeschooling style can bring.
Back then in school, we learnt what punctuality and not missing classes meant by being punished whenever we defaulted. Those actions, in one way or the other, are part of our lives today.
