Every day I learn more to love myself, what I once did not like as a teenager, today I am able to accept myself as I am and love myself, when I was little I did not like my curly hair and in fact it was quite curly compared to how it is now, because I have used the hair straightener so much that the curls began to come loose and now look like waves. But I had an explanation for why I didn't like it and really most of them were unfounded by society, here are some:
Reasons why I didn't like it (or so society made me believe)
1.- I was always disheveled (supposedly)
2.- When I used a "brush" as people suggested, it looked horrible
3.- You don't look "good" (this word changes to "professional" when you grow up)
4.- "Rebellious hair"
5.- "Bad hair"
The truth is that there are a lot of reasons that society gave you about your hair, besides that when I went to school few girls had hair like me, almost all of them had straight hair and guess what happened, that was cause for ridicule, instead of thinking that I was unique, I thought that I had hair that was cursed, and added to that, at that time we didn't know how to take care of hair like mine, my mother did the best she could, she bought me some creams and gave me a brush, and that was it... By the way, my mom has straight hair. I remember that at that time I bought a gel that left my hair like stone but at least it didn't have frizz, I couldn't stand it that much and when I was about 14 years old I begged my mother to send me to a hairdresser, the first time I saw my hair ironing I thought I finally looked combed, I became obsessed and asked my mom if I could do it once a week, until I bought my own tools and learned... It's all been a process.
Nowadays it seems that all of us who have this type of hair said enough, it's time to love and accept ourselves, now everywhere you see people promoting the curly method, care and many things that we didn't know before to get the best version of our hair in its natural form. I decided to try it and honestly I felt so sad but because I loved how my curly hair turned out and how I felt in the past, how I hated my own hair and thinking about it, it wasn't because I wanted to hate it, it was because of all the negative things I heard. Here I am sharing some photos of my hair
1.- Siempre estaba despeinada (supuestamente)
