A Place Like Home

Aromas of the evening,
recalls in the mind,
like a sweet fragrance
of a place where the grass
feels like paradise.
home beckons,
like a siren song
filtering into me far away
into alien lands
as if I was a soldier
in the midst of gut and reek.

The sunset dims,
and colours are born
like a sublet of heaven.
like a whistle,
one jolt of memory
and I begin to revel
in comfort of the noon,
where cicidas are musicians
and the eagle's bawls
are sonorous to the mind

in a moment,
we're slaves to the moments,
when the skylarks yawns
and signals dinner!
the cooking pots
and the smouldering fire place
ignites a familiar smile
but opens up a door,
a door of sadness
in my little cup of comfort.

as today is born,
yesterday lives on,
like a perfectly placed kiss
that brings tears
to regretful souls.
I'm caught up far away
where hooting and shrieking
is served for breakfast
and bayonets and bullets
ticks like a grandfather's clock.

Aromas of the evening,
gently fades away.
like bubbles in the air
as foreign scents
thrills into me.
I'm in a country
owned by no one
a nameless land
where the grass is grey
and the evening feels like nothing

A place like home,
is where I'm known
and the rains
falls in zigzag droplets!
familiar arms
swarming around me
and curious eyes
battling me to the ground
so i can tell a story
of when I was far away
in distant lands.
