Today was a "dog's morning," and I don't mean that I had any problems or anything like that. It's just that there were several dogs on the streets near my house, either lying on the sidewalks or staring at me from doorways. What was supposed to be a short walk around the neighborhood ended up turning into more time spent taking pictures of these dogs while I talked to them loudly and some neighbors watched, amused as always...

Hoy fue "una mañana de perros" y no me refiero a que yo tuviese algún tipo de problemas o algo por el estilo, sino que se trata de que, en las calles cercanas a mi casa, habían algunos perros ya fuese echados en las aceras o mirándome desde alguna puerta. Y lo cierto es que, aquello que simplemente sería una caminata breve por el vecindario, terminó por convertirse en algo más de tiempo invertido en hacer fotos de estos perros, mientras yo les hablaba en voz alta y algunos vecinos me observaban divertidos como siempre...

And those of you who follow my photography blog on #Hive (and thanks always for your support, guys), already know that dogs are part of the streetscape of Montalbán, the town where I live. And therefore, these charming animals are also an important part of my photographic repertoire. Walking through my streets and not seeing dogs is impossible. Just as it's impossible for me to walk past them without ending up sitting down and snapping a photo. And this isn't limited to me; the locals have a very close relationship with stray dogs, and in fact, it's been that way for as long as I can remember. So much so that I can say that we practically don't have "strictly stray" dogs here, as they all seem to be somehow connected to a human home, even though they spend a good part of the day on the streets...

Y aquellos de ustedes que siguen mi blog de contenido fotográfico en #Hive (y gracias siempre por ese apoyo chicos), ya saben que los perros son parte del paisaje callejero de Montalbán, el pueblo en donde vivo. Y por ende estos encantadores animales son también parte importante de mi repertorio fotográfico. Y es que, andar por mis calles y no encontrar perros, es algo imposible. Así como también es imposible para mi el pasar con indiferencia al lado de estos animales sin terminar sentado cerca de ellos disparándoles alguna foto. Y esto no se limita a mi, pues la relación del gentilicio local con los perros callejeros es muy intima, y de hecho ha sido así desde que tengo uso de razón y observo esto. Tanto es así que; puedo asegurar que prácticamente aquí no tenemos perros "estrictamente callejeros" pues todos parecen estar de alguna manera asociados a algún hogar humano, aunque pasen buena parte del día en las calles...

My father, who was somewhat of a bohemian and liked to enjoy life to the fullest, also had a special place in his heart (and in our house, by the way) for dogs. And thanks to him, both my sisters and I grew up surrounded by dogs and learned to connect with these charming animals. In fact, Dad used to say things like, "Loving and caring for dogs is one of the easiest ways to enter paradise without reading too much" 😂... And he would also say something more serious like, "Whoever dares to harm a dog will also harm a human without the slightest scruple" 😐... And thinking about it, I believe that both statements may hold some truth...

Mi padre, quien era un tanto bohemio y que gustaba de disfrutar la vida tanto como fuese posible; también tenía un amplio espacio en su corazón (y en nuestra casa, por cierto) para los perros. Y gracias a él, tanto mis hermanas como yo, crecimos rodeados de perros y aprendimos a conectarnos con estos encantadores animales. De hecho, Papá acostumbraba a decir cosas como: "Amar y cuidar a los perros es una de las maneras más fáciles de entrar al paraíso sin leer demasiado" 😂... Y también decía algo más serio como: "Quien se atreve a dañar a un perro, también dañará a un humano sin el menor escrúpulo" 😐... Y pensándolo bien, creo yo, que puede que ambas frases encierren cierta certeza...
