I took this stroll through the streets one of those mornings when the fog isn't quite thick enough to be pitch gray. And then, when it's a bit lighter, the sun looks like a huge, shapeless white patch suspended in the sky, as if someone had turned on a streetlamp and then draped a white sheet between the light and the streets. And so that day, I wandered aimlessly along one of those simple streets that "go downhill" (because here in Montalbán, walking west to east is what everyone calls "going downhill," and when it's the other way around, they call it "going uphill"), and well, that day I "went down" towards the outskirts, on the eastern edge of town. But the photos were simple, like those streets teeming with the everyday and usually lacking in novelty. However, there was that strange way the sun illuminated everything, and so each shot had a story to tell... An old bus, a dog backlit, the foundations of a wall that was never finished, lonely streets, old trucks that seemed to be looking at me, a cat, a wall door with graffiti confessing love, and so on until the fog lifted and with it, that strange light...

Esta caminata callejera la hice una de esas mañanas en la que la niebla no es suficientemente densa como para ser gris obscura. Y entonces, cuando es así, un poco más ligera, el sol parece una enorme mancha blanca sin forma precisa suspendida en el cielo, como si alguien hubiese encendido una farola y luego puesto una sabana blanca entre la luz y lasa calles. Y entonces ese día, caminé sin rumbo, por una de esas calles simples que "bajan" (porque aquí en Montalbán caminar en sentido oeste-este es algo que todos llaman "bajar" y cuando es a la inversa le dicen "subir") y bueno, ese día "bajé" hacia las afueras en el margen al este del pueblo. Pero las fotos fueron simples, como lo son esas calles repletas de lo cotidiano y usualmente mezquinas de novedades. Sin embargo, estaba esa manera extraña en la que el sol iluminaba todo y así cada disparo tenía algo que contar... Un viejo autobús, un perro a contra luz, las bases de una pared que nunca se terminó de construir, calles solitarias, viejos camiones que parecen mirarme, algún gato, alguna puerta de pared con un grafiti confesando amores, y así sucesivamente hasta que la niebla huyó y con ella, esa luz extraña...
