My mother is close to 80 years old, but until about 25 years ago she was a teacher, and one of her activities outside her working hours in educational institutions was to bring home her students with performance problems and give them private lessons that she called "support and improvement." So, due to this activity of my mother, at home there was a space that served as a school classroom, and my mother kept the surfaces of that place, whether they were the walls, the ornaments, and including rugs and carpets on the floor, with abundant green color. And this was no mere coincidence, but my mother, thanks to her vocation, studied for teaching, knew very well the calming and relaxing effect that the color green has on people and, especially, on the young students whom she helped to improve their learning pace...

Mi madre tiene cerca de 80 años de edad, pero hasta hace unos 25 años atrás era profesora, y una de sus actividades fuera de sus horarios de trabajo en instituciones educacionales era traer a casa a sus alumnos con problemas de rendimiento e impartirles clases privadas que ella llamaba de "apoyo y mejoramiento". Así que, debido a esta actividad de mi madre, en casa había un espacio que hacía las veces de aula escolar, y mi madre mantenía las superficies de ese lugar, ya fuesen las paredes, los adornos e incluido tapetes y alfombras en el piso, con abundante color verde. Y esto no era mera casualidad, sino que mi madre, gracias a su vocación, estudió para la docencia, conocía muy bien el efecto calmante y relajante que tiene el color verde en las personas y, muy especialmente, en los jóvenes alumnos a los que ella ayudaba a mejorar su ritmo de aprendizaje...

With this "green color" in mind, last week, as soon as we had a morning with good sunshine and not too high temperature, I decided to take a short walk along one of my favorite rural roads precisely to enjoy all that "charming green" that I knew I would find along my route, since we have already had enough rainy days here, making this the pastures and tree foliage renew themselves in a charming way...

Con esto del "color verde" en mente, la pasada semana, apenas tuvimos una mañana con buen sol y temperatura no demasiado alta, decidí dar un breve paseo a lo largo de uno de mis caminos rurales favoritos, precisamente para disfrutar de todo ese "verde encantador" que sabía encontraría a lo largo de mi recorrido; pues hemos tenido ya suficientes días de lluvia aquí, haciendo esto que los pastizales y el follaje arbóreo se renueven de manera encantadora...

I made this walk with the intention of clearing my mind a bit. We have had quite hard days here and it is necessary to make some pauses and seek some peace of mind. So this journey, during which I barely went a couple of kilometers away from the town streets, served me very effectively for that...

Hice este recorrido con la intención de despejar un poco mi mente. Hemos tenido días bastante duros aquí y es necesario hacer algunas pausas y procurar algo de sosiego. Así que este recorrido, durante el cual me alejé apenas un par de kilómetros de las calles del pueblo, me sirvió de manera muy efectiva para eso...

Photographically speaking, I am not very enthusiastic about what I call "excess of greens" for taking landscape photos, because—as many of you must have already noticed—I prefer dry seasons with all their ocher tones and the drama of bare branches and dusty roads. But I have to recognize that what I needed this time to feel better was certainly all this greenery occurring on both sides of the road, so that day I returned home calmer and better prepared to continue facing the challenges of these complex days...

Fotográficamente hablando, no soy muy entusiasta de esto que llamo "excesos de verdes" para hacer fotos de paisajes, pues —como muchos de ustedes ya deben de haber notado— prefiero las épocas de sequía con todos sus tonos ocres y el drama de las ramas desnudas y caminos polvorientos. Pero tengo que reconocer que lo que necesitaba esta vez para sentirme mejor era ciertamente todo este verdor ocurriendo de lado y lado del camino, así que ese día regresé a casa más calmado y mejor dispuesto a seguir enfrentando los retos de estos días complejos...
