These photographs are from the day I made my first communion, one of the most important sacraments in the Catholic religion. I am happy to say at 36 years old that I have been faithful to my own faith, and in fact I have cultivated it over time, although now I see that truth and justice has many forms, but being faithful is one of my great virtues and I am happy to be firm in the path I chose despite so many slaps that life gives us over time. I also see these images and I think a lot about my life before and after moving to another city; everything has changed radically and with the death of my dad and being married I really don't know a little of the life I had in my childhood and adolescence, they are two totally different things.
This day was a celebration for the family, it was in the middle of 1998 and I was only 10 years old. The family is what most represents that moment; that man in the picture is my baptism godfather, and I practically never saw him during my childhood until the day of my first communion. The event took place in my elementary school, since it was a catholic school and I remember that leaving the event my dad took us to eat chicken at Arturo's, and that was a special place for children in Aragua because of the park to play, but I also remember that day they told me that I was too big, plus my mom did not want me to dirty my white clothes 🤣
Today I am writing these words with a lot of nostalgia. I accept my life as it comes and enjoy every moment, which I consider a gift, but it still breaks my heart to see that there is almost nothing left of those times, only love remains, and although that is good, I miss the days with my parents, the afternoons of games with my brother, the family walks and those days where life was quiet, where dreams were not so difficult to realize. As an adult everything depends on me, but at least I found the right person to go through this stage of my life; I still don't know if God will grant us to have children, but I am sure that if that were to happen, I owe him a childhood as beautiful and even better than the one I had to live...
