After leaving the barn, I decided to follow Jack from a distance to see where he was heading. He walked past the resting spots and climbed up a steep hill toward the edge of the ranch. When he reached the top, I greeted him, but ultimately stepped back to give him space.
When I came out of the barn after finishing my heavy chores, I decided to follow Jack to see where the kid was going and what he would do next.
I trailed behind him quietly, acting as if I was not following him at all. I maintained a slow, casual pace to give him some privacy, wanting to avoid making him upset.
Keeping a steady distance behind him, I felt curious to see how the game developers had designed this little NPC and how he would behave when left alone.
Jack simply kept walking down the trail without stopping. I expected him to take a break and sit down at the nearby resting area, but he passed right by it and continued through the thick bushes.
He made his way toward the higher ground of the ranch, heading directly up a steep, grassy hill. I followed him up the incline, keeping my eyes on him as he pushed toward the top.
When he reached the very edge of the hill, Jack finally came to a complete stop. It appeared he was simply looking for a quiet, elevated spot to take in the surrounding scenery.
As soon as he noticed my presence, he turned around to face me.
I greeted him warmly by calling his name, letting him know I was there if he needed anything. He remained silent, giving off the impression that he preferred to be left alone.
Realizing that little Jack was trying to grow up on his own terms, I turned around and walked away, giving him the personal space he needed/wanted.
