this was how the day looked like, a collection of random things. even the shop name was so random.

it actually just boils down to two areas, "a tale of two cities" of sorts; just casually referring to the novel there although i haven't read that classic.

machiya

1000041190.jpg

a housemate casually informed that our beloved machiya station had a new opening. this station is the closest "urban" center near home; although i technically live in tokyo, i live on the residential side of things. and this station is the closest there is to city life.

1000041187.jpg

the newly opened shop was a share lounge, a place where you can just lounge. they have personal cubicles with monitors where you can work, they have tables with some dividers for some privacy. and most specially they have food.

1000041188.jpg

1000041189.jpg

they also have drinks. the coffee maker they had was even from starbucks, which also had a newly opened shop downstairs. softdrinks and soft ice cream for the sweet lovers; it really was a great place to hang out or even work in.

1000041184.jpg

now here is the price, quite reasonable to me. 1100 per hour but offered a 2200 discount if you bought a 10 times use ticket. and that ticket can be shared to people, very reasonable. a day use of 3850 and a 5 days use for a discount of one day equivalent. as a frugal person, i immediately planned a way to get the most of it. eat breakfast at home, and go to the lounge from morning till dinner.

1000041191.jpg

sadly, the free use tickets for that lounge was already fully distributed and the actual opening of the shop is still this monday; we couldn't avail today. the nearest thing we could do was to have some coffee in the starbucks shop below. this was also a first in this neighborhood, naturally people flocked in. a glass of latte and a donut, and great amount of conversation time was all it took to enjoy the noon time.

and i thought that was the highlight of the day, but an invitation from wittyzell@wittyzell and appleeatingapple@appleeatingapple for that night came.

shimo kitazawa

the place was always filled with people, a sort of new hangout place. so many foreigners and even dogs, it was a really peaceful place, laid back atmosphere.

1000041208.jpg

1000041209.jpg

full of many shops with many things, full of vintage stuff. these cat pendants were cute! this neighborhood is known for thrifting, preloved clothes were sold at a lower price. and yet, designer labels still cost a fortune even when resold.

1000041210.jpg

1000041211.jpg

the category is retro! shops give off this old school vibes. good thing that this place is far from home or i will be a frequent roamer in the area. there were so many nooks with lots of things of interest.

1000041212.jpg

1000041213.jpg

and this hair salon just looks extra! that company vision or vow displayed outside was also quite unique. i just hope that japanese people would read them as well.

1000041214.jpg

1000041217.jpg

we had dinner in this taco rice shop, that is rice topped with common taco fillings. i had the beef one. sadly, it was to expensive for the quantity. would have enjoyed a better meal fit for a king for the same price. of course i am exaggerating but you get the point.

1000041220.jpg

this was the real culprit of the invite, kakigori. it is basically flavored shaved ice. but a much needed one in this hot weather. mango it is!

as always, AMPING KANUNAY!
