Another grey day. Had to wait at home for a delivery. Got that in place early afternoon. Enough time to do an umbrella walk. Took the train to walk a part of the Great North Walk. Changed my mind part way - walk from Hornsby down toward Blue Gum walk was the idea instead of from Berowra
Can always bank on finding a brush turkey or two on the roadside before getting to the bush
Road work happening going down to Old Mans Valley - no idea what that is or was
Chose not to take this path onto Great North Walk. Walked it before. A bit narrow to be walking with an umbrella in the rain. Stick to the road to access the path where it goes down the Heritage Steps
Council have been talking about the great new walks they created around the quarry. Those start here at the old crusher plant. New signage. Fenced off the building. Made a nice park with some gym equipment and a picnic table and parking. No toilets and no bbq.
They made a new set of stairs going down toward the quarry. Labelled them the Heritage Steps. Strange as this is the opposite direction to the original Heritage Steps
Had quite a bit of rain but not enough to get this creek running

View through the trees to the quarry below. There is a track that skirts the quarry - heading left and keeping the quarry to the right. It was closed rjis end - too bad as I know there are orchids where it joins Blue Gum walk. Been closed for years from the other side. The quarry is still working = noisy
Track looped back to a path I had chosen not to walk. Walked it a bit - oops - no pedestrians. Even on a school holiday day there were no riders happy to ride in the rain. Guess where I landed up? Yep - the road work going down to Old Mans Valley. Looping back the way I came
And landing up next to the swimming pool. What Council has done is named the whole section of new steps as Heritage Steps - 6 month old steps are now Heritage Steps.
As I had done my steps and explored a new walk decided to head back to the station. That offered up some new Hornsby photo angles. The court house.
