We are in a month when the Venezuelan Catholic congregation is celebrating, as on October 19, the first two Venezuelan saints were elevated to the universal altars. We are talking about Dr. Jos茅 Gregorio Hern谩ndez and Ana Carmen Rendiles, two figures whose lives have been considered an example of humanism and service to those most in need, thus earning the appreciation and devotion of millions of people.

Nos encontramos en un mes en donde la feligres铆a Cat贸lica venezolana est谩 de fiesta, ya que el pasado 19 de octubre fueron elevados a los altares universales los dos primeros Santos venezolanos, estamos hablando del doctor Jos茅 Gregorio Hern谩ndez Ana Carmen Rendiles, dos personajes cuya vida ha sido considerada como un ejemplo de humanismo y servicio por los m谩s necesitados, gan谩ndose de esta manera el aprecio y la devoci贸n de millones de personas.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, I decided to rummage through my archives and found a series of photographs with interesting characteristics, where we can delve into some details of Catholicism in Caracas. In this way, we can take a quick look at various architectural styles, some urban contrasts, and an impeccable display of Catholic art, where altarpieces and vivid images are the center of attention.
Aprovechando esta oportunidad he decidido hurgar entre mis archivos he encontrado una serie fotogr谩fica de caracter铆sticas interesantes, en donde nos podremos adentrar en algunos detalles del catolicismo caraque帽o, es de esta forma como en una mirada rel谩mpago observaremos diversos estilos arquitect贸nicos, algunos contrastes citadinos y un impecable muestra del arte cat贸lico, en donde los retablos y las im谩genes de expresiones vivas son el centro de atracci贸n.
Caracas is a city full of churches, each with its own particular touch, but all sharing the same feeling of faith, hope, and reconciliation. Although religious fervor seems to have waned in recent generations, today it is being reborn with great force, as in the image of Dr. Jos茅 Gregorio Hern谩ndez we can recognize ourselves as members of the same community, which is not distinguished by social class, political position, or ideological beliefs.
Caracas es una ciudad llena de Iglesias, en donde cada una cuenta con un toque particular, pero en donde se comparte un mismo sentimiento de fe, esperanza y reconciliaci贸n. Si bien en las 煤ltimas generaciones el fervor religioso parece haber mermado, hoy renace con mucha fuerza, ya que en la imagen del doctor Jos茅 Gregorio Hern谩ndez nos podemos reconocer como miembros de una misma comunidad, la cual no se distingue por clases sociales, posiciones pol铆ticas o creencias ideol贸gicas.
Sometimes images speak a thousand words, and in this case we can safely say that we find ourselves in the midst of a society whose Catholic roots remain strong and deep, where feelings of brotherhood and boundless faith are proudly displayed. But we also find ourselves in the midst of a city whose religious temples are elegant, beautiful, and filled with unparalleled artistic richness, where we will not only delight in diverse styles, but also admire rich architecture worthy of admiration.
A veces las im谩genes hablan por mil palabras y en esta oportunidad podemos asegurar de que nos encontramos en medio de una sociedad cuyas ra铆ces cat贸licas siguen siendo fuertes y profundas, en donde el sentimiento de fraternidad y la fe sin l铆mites es un estandarte que se enarbola con orgullo. Pero adem谩s, tambi茅n nos encontramos en medio de una ciudad cuyos templos religiosos son elegantes, bellos y repletos de una riqueza art铆stica sin igual, en donde no solo nos deleitaremos con diversos estilos, sino que en t茅rminos generales se trata de una arquitectura rica y digna de ser admirada.
