Hace unos d铆as estuve ayudando en una mudanza: empacar, pintar, mover muebles, reparar cosas...
Jajaja 馃槀

A few days ago, I was helping with a move: packing, painting, moving furniture, repairing things... And that took me on a trip down memory lane and made me reflect on many things.
The first is that you don't really know how much stuff you have until you move, and the other is that moving shows you who your true friends are.
When I was a kid, we moved a lot, but I wasn't involved in that process. They would drop my brother and me off at Grandma's house and pick us up when the new house was nice and ready for us (wonderful childhood experiences we didn't appreciate 馃槀).
But when I turned 14, we made what we thought would be our last move (at least until we were ready to move out on our own), and that was the case for 21 years. I did participate in that move and discovered the stressful insanity of moving. Where did so much stuff come from? Where did so much junk come from? Aren't those just too many books? Whose are all those things I'd never seen before?
Life takes many twists and turns, and 21 years later, we packed our suitcases and made the move we never thought we'd make. We moved to another country where a thousand changes and adventures awaited us, as well as a good season of renting and moving.
We haven't had to move yet, but while helping with this move, I realized that everything is easier with friends. And while we covered ourselves in paint thanks to our beginner painting skills, we remembered Venezuela, and since you can't paint "dry" there, we ordered a beer to toast our country's traditions. That's when someone started playing a bagpipe to remember all the Decembers he'd painted in his house (obviously, he was our most skilled friend when it came to painting), and a thousand anecdotes began to pour out. What was once a tedious and stressful task became a joy to share with friends. With good humor and extra hands, the job was done quickly.
And while we were in that process of memories, moving, and painting, I realized that this immigration process has been easier for me because I'm not alone, because I have a wonderful circle of support every step of the way, and for that I'm extremely grateful.
Now, going back to moving, I kept thinking that I better control the hoarder in me or I'll have a lot of problems the day it's time to move. Hahaha
