En Cuba hay flores que forman parte del paisaje cotidiano. Las vemos con tanta frecuencia que muchas veces pasamos junto a ellas sin detenernos a mirar.
El marpacífico es una de ellas.
En esta época he encontrado flores de diferentes colores y, aunque es una planta muy común, siempre hay alguna que consigue llamar mi atención. Esta vez fueron unas hermosas flores rojas que encontré durante uno de mis recorridos.
Estaban completamente abiertas, mostrando todo su color. El rojo destacaba entre las hojas verdes y hacía que las flores resaltaran incluso desde cierta distancia.
Saqué el móvil y tomé algunas fotografías.
Me gusta encontrar estos pequeños detalles mientras camino. No necesito que una flor sea extraña o difícil de encontrar para querer fotografiarla. A veces basta con verla en un momento determinado, con buena luz y con ese aspecto que hace que uno se detenga.
El marpacífico está por todas partes y es muy común por aquí. Quizás precisamente por eso podemos acostumbrarnos a verlo y dejar de apreciar lo bonito que puede ser.
Pero aquella mañana estas flores rojas volvieron a llamar mi atención.
No había nada extraordinario en ellas. Eran simplemente flores de una planta que conozco de toda la vida.
Y, sin embargo, me parecieron hermosas.

The Red of the Hibiscus
In Cuba, there are flowers that are simply part of the everyday landscape. We see them so often that many times we walk past them without stopping to look.
The hibiscus is one of them.
At this time of year, I have been seeing flowers in different colors, and although this is a very common plant, there is always one that manages to catch my attention. This time it was some beautiful red flowers that I came across during one of my walks.
They were completely open, showing all their color. The red stood out against the green leaves and made the flowers noticeable even from a distance.
I took out my phone and captured a few photographs.
I like finding these little details while I walk. A flower doesn't have to be unusual or difficult to find for me to want to photograph it. Sometimes it is enough to see it at a particular moment, in good light, with something about it that makes you stop.
Hibiscus plants are everywhere and very common around here. Perhaps that is precisely why we can become so used to seeing them that we stop appreciating how beautiful they can be.
But that morning, those red flowers caught my attention once again.
There was nothing extraordinary about them. They were simply flowers from a plant I have known all my life.
And yet, I found them beautiful.
