Greetings. I accept the kind invitation from the Weekend Experiences community to be part of a project where each of us must send three personal objects to a time capsule that will be opened in two hundred years.

Selecting the objects has not been easy and I based my selection on the predictions that some historians make about the future society.

The first object is a photo of my granddaughter. It is likely that in two hundred years, babies will no longer exist. Studies on human cloning and genetic engineering are advancing every day, and when that is done there will be no longer any reason for people to continue to reproduce in the way we have known up to now.

But even if cloning is not a complete reality by that time, the birth of children should be exceptional.

By that time, remarkable advances will have been made in the field of medicine. Diseases such as cancer, diabetes and those related to heart problems will have been overcome. In addition, the creation of artificial organs will make it possible to replace those that have been damaged. Under such conditions it is likely that human life will have been extended to limits unimaginable in our time. People one hundred and fifty-two hundred years old will be common. Most of the inhabitants of the planet will be old people who will live longer every day.

Looking at the picture of the little girl, perhaps they can think about the importance of children for humans in the 21st century.

The second object is a handwritten page from a notebook. In two hundred years artificial intelligence will be present in all activities of human life. It is likely that people will no longer need to write to communicate, many will even have forgotten how to do it.

So far, writing has been maintained by necessity, but in a future world where we only have to use our voice for a machine to take action, there is no need for us to write or even to read anything. Why write or read if a machine can do it just as well or even better...?

In the same way, in two hundred years a sheet of paper, like the ones we know, may only be seen in a museum. Let's remember that to produce paper we need to cut down a tree, and in the future a tree will surely be a revered object.

Looking at the handwritten page, it is likely that someone will wonder what sense that could have for us. Perhaps it is very difficult to imagine the pleasure we felt in this time when we saw how the strokes on a sheet of paper become words, and the words become stories or reflections that make our thoughts fly. Maybe someone in the future will want to explore the fascination of the written word.

The third object is a flash drive with a recording of birds chirping. I don't know if in two hundred years you will be able to listen to the recording on the flash drive, but I couldn't think of any other way to leave you the sounds of nature. If we continue with the levels of pollution we know and the climate change we are experiencing, it is likely that in a short time the birds will have already lost their habitat. Every day species become extinct because they lose the spaces where they used to live. There are already cities where you can hardly ever hear a bird chirping.

Let us hope that the person who listens to what is recorded on that flash drive two hundred years from now will still be able to recognize those sounds of nature. May he or she smile at the realization that they were wonderful sounds for us, too.

I really enjoyed writing the post, I thank friend galenkp@galenkp for providing us with writing ideas each week.

Thank you for your time.
