Hello everyone. After my last review of old movies, I took the opportunity to chat with my aunts and uncles to refresh my memory regarding other storylines and hear their opinions. Some really good films came up that I hadn't remembered, so I jotted them down; it really reinforced for me just how valuable it is to have these memories and to share these common interests with them. Anyway, among the many titles discussed, there was one plot that had been on my mind for days. So, fueled by the excitement of that conversation—and continuing with the theme of movies from yesteryear—today I’m sharing my thoughts on another Italian comedy classic from the 80s: Poliziotto superpiù.
Hola a todos, les comento que luego de mi última reseña de películas antiguas, aproveché a conversar un poco con mis tíos para así refrescar un poco recuerdos de otras tramas y así saber incluso su opinión, y debo decir que salieron películas bastante buenas que no recordaba, por lo que las anoté y reafirmé el hecho de que es algo muy valioso el tener recuerdos y haber generado estos gustos en común con ellos. Y bueno, entre tantos, tenía una trama en la mente desde hace días, por lo que con la emoción de esta charla y también siguiendo un poco la línea de películas de temporadas pasadas, hoy les daré mi opinión de otro clásico de la comedia italiana de los 80: "Poliziotto superpiù".
This film is known by various titles: El superpoderoso in Spain, and Superpolicía nuclear in both Mexico and Peru. Directed and written by Sergio Corbucci—produced by El Pico S.A. and distributed by Consorzio Italiano Distributori Indipendenti Film—it stars Terence Hill. Released in 1980, the film falls into the comedy, fantasy, and action genres. The plot follows Dave Speed, a Miami police officer who, while inspecting a vacant lot, is unexpectedly struck by a nuclear missile; this grants him superpowers that help him solve major cases, though he has one specific weakness: the color red.

Fue publicada en el año 1980 bajo la clasificación de comedia, fantasía y acción. La trama nos lleva a Dave Speed, un policía de Miami, el cual, al estar en una misión de inspección en un terreno baldío, es impactado sorpresivamente por un misil nuclear, el cual hace que reciba poderes, los cuales lo ayudan a comenzar a resolver casos importantes; sin embargo, su única debilidad será el color rojo.
Indeed, this film draws inspiration from one of the most popular works in the genre—specifically, the original Superman movie starring Christopher Reeve. Consequently, the premise is instantly accessible; however, this version leans into Terence Hill’s signature brand of irreverent, cartoonish comedy and adventure. This approach pays off, allowing the film to garner positive reviews and become a major hit on HBO during its era—a result that is both surprising and expected, given that such pairings were a staple of the time. Yet, the plot holds its own; while it employs exaggeration, these elements do not undermine the story’s message but rather provide moments for laughter, inviting the audience to simply sit back and enjoy the ride.
Y es que, en efecto, esta película está basada en una de las más populares del cine de ficción, pues la inspiración surgió de la primera película de Superman con Christopher Reeve. Por ende, es obvio entenderla a la primera; sin embargo, en esta ocasión, dirigida a la comedia y aventura de Terence Hill con su típico humor caricaturesco e irreverente, por lo que le da un acierto y hace que, incluso aunque no tenga la compañía de Bud Spencer como muchos esperaban, esta logre recibir buenas críticas, recibiendo incluso valoraciones positivas y siendo una de las más vistas en su época a través de la cadena HBO, cosa que es sorprendente y a su vez esperado, ya que era la combinación habitual de ver en esos tiempos, y aun así no deja de ser una buena trama, ya que, al tener ciertas exageraciones, estas no distorsionan lo que quiere dar a entender, sino que ofrecen momentos para reír y simplemente dejarse llevar por la historia.
What I really like about this movie is the way it handles the plot with such comedy and irreverence. I still think that the use of effects—which aren't overly digital and sometimes even obviously practical—gives it a unique spark that elevates the film; the same goes for the music, which clearly immerses us in the prevailing humor. Even fans of the famous Police Academy movies will undoubtedly recognize a connection in this style of comedy—relying on expressions and visual gags rather than explicitly telling the joke—which effectively makes us burst out laughing and makes the film unforgettable.
Esta película justamente me gusta por cómo toman la trama con esa comedia e irreverencia. Sigo pensando que, sin duda, al tener esos efectos no tan computarizados e incluso algunos obvios de notar, le dan esa chispa única y que le sube el valor, así como la música que claramente nos sumerge en el humor existente. Incluso para quienes somos fans de la conocida película "Locademia de Policía", sin duda vamos a encontrar relación en esa forma de hacer reír con incluso expresiones y sin intentar contarnos el chiste, sino que simplemente hacerlo visual y efectivo para hacernos soltar la carcajada y hacerla inolvidable.
As I mentioned earlier, this movie is part of my family memories; it was certainly one of those films we enjoyed back in the era of unforgettable CDs—and one we even miss today. Personally, it’s a favorite of mine because it makes me laugh just as much now as it did when I was a child. Terence Hill has a distinctive quality—his gaze—which is incredibly intense and penetrating. His expressions are unique, too, creating a contrast with the comedy that adds a personal touch to his performance and really enhances his character within the film. Como dije antes, esta película forma parte de esos recuerdos familiares, por lo que sin duda fue de esas que disfrutamos en la época de los inolvidables CDs y que incluso extrañamos. Y bueno, personalmente, es de mis favoritas porque, así como me hacía reír de niña, sigue haciendo actualmente, y Terence Hill tiene algo particular y es su mirada, la cual es bastante fuerte y penetrante, así como sus expresiones que se me hacen únicas y da ese contraste con la comedia, lo cual añade un poco más un sello personal para él, por lo que es de mi agrado porque realza más lo que es su personaje dentro de la película. Así que, bueno, sin más que decir y esperando sea de su agrado, muchas gracias por leer.
