Hello everyone, among animated films there's always variety for all ages and tastes, and, well, especially in terms of humor. Sometimes we find films where the humor is so over the top that only those who understand it can truly appreciate it, while others feel contrived. But among so many, there are some that manage to stand out, taking risks and breaking away from the ordinary. And well, I mentioned some time ago that I really like Mexican culture, because of its films and especially its animations, including those from Huevocartoon. I've even talked about some of their popular productions before, so today it's the turn of one that aims to make us laugh with Mexican slang and stereotypes, employing a humor that blends well. So today I'll give you my opinion on "Martians vs. Mexicans."
Hola a todos, entre las películas animadas siempre hay variedad para edad y gusto y, bueno, sobre todo el humor, encontrándonos a veces algunas donde este sube tanto que solo quienes lo entienden logran disfrutarlo, u otras donde llega a estar rebuscado. Pero entre tantas, hay unas que logran marcar y destacar, arriesgando y saliendo de lo cotidiano. Y bueno, hace tiempo mencioné el hecho de que me gusta mucho la cultura mexicana, por el deor elde sus películas y sobre todo las animaciones, y entre ellas las de la empresa Huevocartoon, incluso hablando anteriormente de algunas de sus producciones populares, por lo que, bueno, hoy en esta ocasión le toca el turno a una que busca hacernos reír con los modismos y estereotipos mexicanos y que toma un humor que combina bien, así que hoy les daré mi opinión sobre "Marcianos vs. Mexicanos"
Written and directed by Gabriel Riva Palacio Alatriste, this animated science fiction film features a distinctly adult humor and was produced by Huevocartoon. It premiered in March 2018 and received mixed reviews. Its use of Mexican slang, which can be both appealing and emotionally resonant, is a prime example. The plot revolves around Martians invading Earth and targeting powerful nations like the United States, achieving widespread control over humanity. However, NASA detects that Mexico is operating normally, seemingly unaffected. Mexico has even managed to acquire some spacecraft to sell for spare parts. After some searching, Chaca Reyes and his family are chosen to embark on a journey to Mars to fight these peculiar Martians.
Escrita y dirigida por Gabriel Riva Palacio Alatriste, es una película animada de ficción que cuenta con un humor muy marcado que se describe como adulto y que fue producida por la empresa Huevocartoon y fue estrenada en marzo del año 2018. Esta, en sí, obtuvo una cantidad de críticas variadas, ya que juega con una mezcla de modismos que se le suelen atribuir a México, por lo que puede también agradar como generar una mezcla de emociones, y es que en su trama nos cuenta que los marcianos invaden la Tierra y se centran en las naciones poderosas como Estados Unidos, generando un éxito y controlando la humanidad. Sin embargo, la NASA detecta un país que sigue su curso normal como si nada, y este es México, quienes incluso han logrado hacerse de algunas naves para vender como repuestos, por lo que luego de buscar, los elegidos son Chaca Reyes y su familia, quienes deberán emprender un viaje a Marte para combatir a estos peculiares marcianos.
This movie is undoubtedly pure fun, of course, with a heavy dose of references, even to popular music, both from within and outside of Mexico. It showcases gastronomy and culture, even though it's animated, and it's one of those movies where you never know what the next move will be, but you can be sure it will be a comedy. Being from Huevocartoon, we know exactly what kind of double entendres to expect, as it has that essence we've seen in previous popular films like "Another Story of Eggs and a Chicken," which we've already discussed in previous posts. So, if you're a fan of these or of Mexican animation that plays with not censoring everything, this is a must-see.
Esta película sin duda es diversión pura, claro, con un toque de referencias muy grande, incluso en músicas populares, tanto fuera como dentro de México. Enmarca la gastronomía y la cultura, aunque sea animación, y también es de esas en las que no sabes cuál será el último movimiento, pero que seguro será una comedia sin duda. Al ser de Huevocartoon, sabemos exactamente a qué clase de doble sentido nos enfrentaremos, pues tiene esa esencia que hemos visto en películas anteriores y populares de estas, como lo es "Otra historia de huevos y un pollo", de la que ya hemos hablado en anteriores posts. Por lo que, si eres fanático de estas o de la animación mexicana que juega a no censurar de todo, esta es un acierto para ver.
It's been met with mixed reviews; it's quite divided. Because of its direct and unapologetic humor, it even explores political themes, and therefore, from my point of view, it wasn't well-received in the United States, mainly due to the way Elias was portrayed. On the other hand, it was praised in Latin America and is a good point of reference, since, unlike in the US, the humor was understood. Interestingly, on this side of the Atlantic, films—animated or otherwise—that consider how a culture is viewed from certain perspectives are often quite appreciated. In this film, with the typical extortionist cop, tacos, even the stereotypes of what are known as "struggling mothers" or the distinct way of speaking with their very pronounced accents, this is clearly evident, and that was a positive decision, well-received by both the Latin American audience and, especially, by Mexico, its home country.
Está a nivel de críticas; está bastante dividida, pues al ser un humor directo y sin miedo, explora puntos incluso de política y, por ende, desde mi punto de vista, en Estados Unidos no tuvo buen recibimiento, pues más que todo el cómo mostraron a Elías. Por otra parte, en Latinoamérica esta tuvo elogios y es un buen referente, ya que, a diferencia, se entendió el humor y, curiosamente, en este lado del charco se suelen apreciar bastante esas películas, animadas o no, donde se toma en cuenta el cómo se ve una cultura desde ciertos aspectos y en esta, al tener al típico policía que cobra vacuna, los tacos, incluso los estereotipos de lo que se conoce como madres luchonas o el modo de hablar distinto con sus acentos supermarcados, se ve claramente y eso fue una decisión positiva y bien vista tanto por el público latino como, sobre todo, por México, siendo la casa.
Among the good scenes there is everything. For laughs, we even see a police officer out of nowhere giving fines to a Martian, like repairing the ship out of nowhere, which is known as resolving; the Martians being beaten with tacos and the scolding of mothers or grandmothers that make us feel like we are children, and that is what makes it not feel heavy and even good. And although it says adult humor, as I mentioned before, the truth is that this film seems quite balanced to me and that it is easily not necessary to classify an age to see it, so I enjoyed it a lot when I saw it and I had more than one laugh, so anyone can see it and have a guaranteed laugh. Entre las escenas buenas hay de todo. Para reír, vemos incluso de la nada a un policía poniendo multas a un marciano, como de la nada reparar la nave, a lo que se conoce como resolver; los marcianos siendo vencidos con tacos y los regaños de madres o abuelas que nos llegan a hacer sentir que somos unos niños, y es lo que hace que no se sienta pesada y que incluso sea buena. Y aunque dice humor adulto, como comenté antes, la verdad es que esta película se me hace bastante equilibrada y que fácilmente no es necesario clasificar una edad para verla, por lo que yo la disfruté mucho cuando la vi y más de una risa me eché, así que cualquiera puede verla y tener una risa garantizada. Así que, sin más que decir y esperando sea de su agrado, muchas gracias por leer.
