They are coming!!
It's the monster people.
They have orange eyes and are made entirely of ice cream. The flavor of them is dreamsicle, and they hope that you will become an ice cream monster, too. There's no end to them.
Flowing down from mountain tops, your only hope is an ocean adventure, but lo and behold, under the water, the fish have become ice cream monsters, too. They have those same orange eyes. And the fish eyes are the size of person eyes, which for some fish means they're mainly just eyes, and for others, like big sharks, means they have teeny tiny eyes.
The whales and other sea mammals are unaffected. I guess they're the ones who will inherit the earth.
C'est la vie.
This is really a better outcome than we otherwise would have had. No more suffering, just ice cream now. Ice cream ice cream.
Oh look a frozen custard has evolved. Oh, it's taking a tool, a little cookie triangle and it's using it to make a house. Oh my. The ice cream is getting crowded out by the more adaptable frozen custard. Now they're evolving further, and they're... oh god they're eating the ice cream people, who are a lot like them, but distinguishable if you're paying attention...is this cannibalism or just like how people eat meat? I guess it doesn't matter, there's no one left to weigh in on the morality of it all.
That's it, now there's just frozen custard monsters.
