What would happen if I offered my acting services in the local paper? Honestly, I did something like that...not really, but when I first moved to LA, I was searching craigslist for anything I could find. It was a trip. What did I do off that? Some guy was trying to make a ESL program by recording actors saying things like, "where is the library." I did that for not much money. There was also doing background for, like a music video maybe? It was a Woody Guthrie tribute maybe? I dunno. At the time, I was open to smoking, but I wasn't a smoker. They wanted us to smoke in the video and I did and oh my god, it was too much. I smoked a lot that day, and that was a bad idea. Seems like I probably shouldn't have done that, and it's a reminder that the union doesn't allow that for a reason. At the time, I wasn't in the union, obv. I was very new in town.
There was another where someone filmed me climbing out of the water in Malibu? Do I remember others? I do not.
I think I probably posted that you could hire me on Craigslist, too. But I don't think I ever got called through that...though maybe one of those gigs came from the other direction. I think maybe we discovered...no. maybe? Audience work? Where you sit in the audience and cheer as the live studio audience and get paid LA minimum wage.
