Alocada obsesión

“The Bounty Hunter” is a comedy film starring Sandra Bullock (Mary), who plays an outgoing woman who becomes convinced that Steve (Bradley Cooper), a television cameraman, is the love of her life. She becomes so obsessed with him—even though his job requires him to travel constantly—that she decides to follow him around to prove that they were meant for each other.

This obsession begins when her parents decide to set up a date between the two of them. When she saw him, she was completely blown away by how handsome he was—but that’s understandable; even I was, hahaha. However, the date didn’t go as planned, since Mary lost control a bit and showed him just how obsessed she was with him, which scared him off and practically sent him running.

Una alocada obsesión es una película de comedia, protagonizada por Sandra Bullock (Mary), la cual representa a una extrovertida mujer que se ve convencida de que Steve (Bradley Cooper), que trabaja como camarógrafo de televisión, es el amor de su vida. Se obsesiona tanto con él que decide perseguirlo, ya que por su trabajo él debe viajar constantemente, para demostrarle que nacieron el uno para el otro.

Esta obsesión nace cuando sus padres deciden planificar una cita entre ambos. Ella, al verlo, quedó completamente impresionada por lo guapo que era, pero se entiende, hasta yo, jajaja. Sin embargo, la cita no se completó, puesto que Mary perdió un poco el control y le mostró demasiado su obsesión por él, que lo asustó y prácticamente salió corriendo.

Mary works at a newspaper; in the entertainment section, her job is to create crossword puzzles. Basically, the movie revolves around this: she focuses all her attention on this man, to the point where her crossword puzzles were based on him, but she needs to get closer to him; that’s why she embarks on this adventure. Of course, he has no idea—he isn’t even interested.

This movie is completely different from typical romantic stories, because we won’t see much romance or love scenes—just an unattractive, outgoing woman who decides to stalk this man, while he runs away from her whenever he can because he can’t stand her. With funny and witty scenes, we’ll witness an entertaining obsession, along with other characters who keep the plot moving.

Mary trabaja en un periódico; en la parte de entretenimiento, su tarea es generar los crucigramas. Básicamente, la película se basa en esto, donde ella concentra toda su atención en este hombre, a tal punto que sus crucigramas se basaban en él, pero ella necesita estar más cerca de él; por ello emprende esta aventura. Por supuesto, él no tiene idea, ni siquiera le interesa.

Esta película es totalmente diferente a las típicas historias románticas, porque no veremos mucho romance ni escenas de amor, solo una mujer que es poco agraciada y extrovertida que decide acosar a este hombre, donde él mismo huye de ella cada vez que puede, porque no la tolera. Con escenas divertidas y elocuentes, veremos una obsesión entretenida, con otros personajes, que hacen que la trama fluya.

There are a lot of mixed reviews about this movie; some have called it Bullock’s worst film. I’m not saying it’s a masterpiece—it falls into the typical trap of absurd scenes and slow moments—but at the same time, it’s entertaining, and I think it has a message. We see a single, quirky woman who meets this handsome man, whom she considers her soulmate, but he doesn’t accept her. It really hurts to be rejected by someone you thought you could share your life with.

Well, if you haven’t seen it, you might want to give it a try if you’re bored.

By the way, the best part of this movie was those famous red boots; you have to see it, hahaha. See you next time.

Existen muchas opiniones encontradas sobre este film; algunas la catalogaron como la peor película de Bullock. No digo que sea una obra maestra; cae en lo típico con escenas absurdas y momentos lentos, pero a la vez es entretenida, y pienso que tiene un mensaje. Vemos a una mujer soltera, rara, que conoce a este hombre guapo, el cual considera que es su media naranja, pero él no la acepta. Duele mucho ser rechazado por alguien con quien pensaste podrías compartir tu vida.

Bueno, si no las has visto, podrías darle una oportunidad si estás aburrida o aburrido.

Por cierto, lo mejor de este film fueron esas famosas botas rojas; tienen que verla, jajaja. Hasta la próxima.
