I was sitting on the couch at my sister’s place, having a cup of coffee, when I turned on the TV and opened Netflix. The thumbnail image caught my eye, so I hit play. It impressed me right from the start.
Would you trust someone who gave you directions that could lead you into the middle of nowhere?
In Norway, a young adventurous couple got caught in a severe storm while scaling a rock face. Despite the weather, the protagonist, Sasha, was determined to break a record and reach the summit, so she asked her husband, Tommy, to wait for her. Being cautious, he suggested they continue the next morning, but she insisted on pushing a little further. (That’s when I started feeling anxious.) The storm intensified, and a large rock fell, striking Tommy. His unconscious body became a dead weight dragging her down with him. She tried with all her might to hold onto both of them, but she couldn't manage it and was forced to let him fall into the abyss.
That’s where the nightmare begins.
Months later, Sasha is driving alone through a park in Australia, still grieving the tragedy she endured. She is driving solo through Wandarra National Park. Carrying the compass her husband Tommy used to keep for good luck, she pulls into a shop where tourists stop to buy supplies, ask for directions, or just wait.
A woman warns her to be careful, mentioning a series of disappearances in the area. Just then, a group of men—hunters who frequent the gas station—start harassing her. She decides to play it safe and heads back to her car. That’s when a man steps in to help her out of kindness. He sells beef jerky and seems like a genuinely decent, good-natured guy. She decides to take him up on his offer. He pointed out the best place to camp.
Sasha stays in her car until those guys leave; then she heads out in her kayak.
As she travels down the river in the dead of night, she sets up her tent and sleeps inside, though she is on edge because hunters are nearby, harassing her. When she wakes up and sees they are gone, she realizes her backpack is missing.
Suspecting the hunters, she goes to the camp of Bem—the man who had given her directions at the gas station. He offers her breakfast—some of the dried meat he sells—but as she eats and drinks, she notices something strange about his behavior.
Growing nervous, she tells him she has to leave; she realizes he is the one who stole her backpack. She grabs her bag and runs for it.
This is the best part—where it all begins.
He puts on music and begins to dance in a sinister, manic way. She desperately tries to reach the water's edge to escape in her kayak.
He waits for the song to end before giving chase.
She loses her kayak and suddenly hears voices. She tries to reach them to call for help.
Bem had played a recording to trick her into thinking a family was nearby so he could capture her; he shoots at her, forcing her to flee back into the woods, where she steps into a bear trap. He captures her and questions her about her husband's death, recounting all the horrors he has committed. He chains her up, forcing her to look at the corpses and the family he has murdered.
He confesses that he is a cannibal who turns the bodies into fresh meat for sale. She struggles to maintain her composure amidst the horror; she tries to talk to him, and at one point, she bites off his ear. Still chained, she tries to flee, and he attempts to strangle her. A fight for survival ensues; they spend the night struggling. Eventually, she is exhausted, while he is too weak to walk. She tries to keep thoughts of Tommy alive; she tells him they must climb the mountain to survive. The roles reverse—he becomes the prey and she the hunter—all while she bears the weight of both their bodies. She tried to break free from his grasp. Several attempts failed because he realized what she was doing. Finally, she succeeded, and he fell onto a rock and died.
That scene was stunning; the visual effects and the sheer desperation were intense. Afterward, she climbed to the top of the mountain, fighting to survive, and a car full of young people drove by and offered her help.
She went to the police and told them where the missing people were.
I give this movie a ten out of ten; it is a well-made film with plenty of suspense and tremendous acting. It’s the kind of movie that makes you afraid to ask for directions or trust anyone.

Estaba sentada en el mueble de la casa de mi hermana tomándome una taza de café y prendo la TV y coloco Netflix. Me llamó la atención por la imagen de la miniatura y la coloqué. Desde el principio me impresionó.
¿Confiarías en alguien que te dé una dirección que te pueda llevar al medio de la nada?
En Noruega, mientras escalaban el muro, una pareja joven de aventureros quedó bajo una fuerte tormenta. A pesar de eso, la protagonista principal, Sasha, necesita alcanzar su récord y subir a lo más alto, así que le pide a su esposo Tommy que la espere. Este, precavido, le dice que puede continuar en la mañana del siguiente día y la esposa le dice que intentará un poquito más. (Aquí ya comenzó mi desesperación). La tormenta se fue incrementando y una roca grande cae y golpea a Tommy. El cuerpo inconsciente de su esposo obligaba a traer con él el cuerpo de su esposa. Ella intentó con todas sus fuerzas sostenerlo a él y a ella, pero no pudo y se vio obligada a dejarlo ir al precipicio.

Meses más tarde, Sasha recorre en su auto un parque en Australia sola y triste por todo aquello que vivió. Conduce sola por el parque nacional Wandarra. Con la brújula que usaba su esposo Tommy para la buena suerte, de pronto ella se estaciona en una tienda donde llegan los turistas a comprar sus víveres, pedir alguna dirección o esperar.

Eran cazadores que siempre iban a la gasolinera; ella toma prudencia y se va yendo a su carro. Cuando llega un hombre y de buena voluntad la ayuda. Este hombre vende carne seca y se ve bastante bueno y decente. Ella le toma la palabra. Él le indicó cuál era el mejor lugar para acampar.

Ella se pone un poco nerviosa y le dice que ya se tiene que ir; se da cuenta de que él fue el que robó su mochila. Y agarra su bolso y sale corriendo.

Él coloca una música y comienza a bailar maquiavélicamente. Ella desesperadamente intenta llegar al lado e irse en el kayak.

Una lucha de supervivencia; pasan la noche. Ya sin fuerzas, él ya debilitado y sin poder caminar. Ella solo intentaba recordar a Tommy; ella le dice que van a tener que escalar la montaña para poder sobrevivir. Él terminó siendo la presa y ella la cazadora; en todo esto, ella va sosteniendo su mismo peso y el de él. Intenta soltarlo del acné. Varios fueron fallidos porque él se daba cuenta. Hasta que lo logró y él cayó sobre una roca y murió.
Esta escena fue impresionante: los efectos visuales y el punto de desesperación eran brutales. Luego ella sube a lo más alto de la montaña, luchando por sobrevivir, y pasa un auto con unos jóvenes que le brindan ayuda.
