Hello, fellow cinephiles! It’s a pleasure to greet you all once again. As always, I’m back with a review of the kind of films I enjoy watching—each week, each day, bringing something different. Some are truly extraordinary, while others are just perfect for passing the time—which is the case with this one.

Synopsis:

This is a sequel to Practical Magic, revisiting the Owens sisters, who must now confront a dark curse that threatens to tear their family apart once and for all.

Está es una secuela de Prácticamente Magia o Hechizo de amor,recordando a las hermanas Owens, las cuales en esta oportunidad deben enfrentarse a la oscura maldición que amenaza con desintegrar a su familia de una vez por todas.

Well, I recently watched this movie. For those who don’t know what it’s about or haven’t seen the first installment: the story centers on a family—specifically a group of sisters who happen to be witches. However, they are under a spell—which has effectively become a curse—whereby every man they fall in love with ends up dying. The original film, released in 1998, stars Sandra Bullock (as Sally) and Nicole Kidman (as Gillian).

Now we have this sequel, which was released recently. I was actually quite curious to see it, as I remember the first one—and yes, I quite enjoyed it. In this version, it’s Sally’s daughters who have to deal with the curse. Honestly, I’m not sure how to rate it; it wasn’t a bad film, but it wasn’t a great one either. The script felt a bit slow and predictable, and at two hours, it was far too long—the story could have been condensed, as it loses momentum and interest halfway through.

That said, I have to give credit to the leads—especially Sandra Bullock. I love her; she always brings such depth to every character she plays. Here, the bond between the sisters remains intact, which adds a certain charm and wit.

Seeing the aunts again—the women who raised the sisters—along with that strong family connection, their mischievous spirit, and the love they share... there’s definitely a sense of nostalgia in seeing these women reunited 28 years later. The heart of the story remains the relationship between the sisters. While the film has its cinematic flaws, it succeeds in its goal: to entertain and evoke the excitement of revisiting this series.

Pues bien, hace poco vi está película, qué para quiénes no saben de que se trata o no han visto la primera parte, les cuento, cómo dije la historia se basa en esta familia, principalmente de estás hermanas, que resultan ser brujas, pero sobre ellas existe un hechizo que terminó convirtiéndose en una maldición, el cual se basa en que todos los hombres que ellas amen, mueren. Está película es protagonizada por Sandra Bullock(Sally) y Nicole Kidman(Gilian), y la primera parte se estreno en el año 1998.

Ahora tenemos esta secuela, estrenada hace poco, y la verdad tenía algo de curiosidad por verla, pues recuerdo la primera, y si, me gustó un poco; en esta versión, les toca a las hijas de Sally lidiar con esta maldición, y sinceramente no se cómo calificarla, no fue una mala versión, pero tampoco un gran film, el guión estuvo algo lento y predecible, me pareció demasiado largo, una duración de dos horas, fue excesivo, esta historia se pudo hacer más corta, porque a mitad de camino cae y se pierde el interés.

Sin embargo debo reconocer el papel de las protagonistas, sobre todo de Sandra, ella me encanta, con esa mirada profunda que siempre genera en cada personaje que interpreta, aquí vemos esa complicidad entre hermanas intacta, lo que genera cierta carisma y gracia.

Volver a ver a las tías, quienes fueron las que criaron a estás hermanas, esa unión familiar, esa picardía y amor entre ellas misma, sin duda se siente un toque de nostalgia al mirar a estas mujeres de nuevo unidas 28 años después. Sin duda el alma de esta historia se mantiene, y sigue siendo esta relación entre las hermanas, sin bien cinematográficamente tiene sus fallas, cumple con su objetivo de entretener y crear esa emoción de volver a ver esta entrega.
