¡Hola amigos! Hoy me paso por acá para traerles mi reseña de la película Prácticamente magia 2. Estaba deseando verla y finalmente pude hacerlo.

Hi, friends! I'm stopping by today to share my review of the movie Practical Magic 2. I've been looking forward to seeing it, and I finally got the chance.

Trama - Plot

En esta segunda entrega después de muchos años de la primera, seguimos a las hermanas Owens y su vida. Sally, tras perder a su segundo marido, decide alejarse de la magia y tener una vida tranquila junto a sus dos hijas que viven en la ignorancia de su linaje. Sin embargo, el pasado siempre vuelve a tocar la puerta y tal vez haya una manera de romper la maldición de amor que aqueja a las mujeres de esta familia, pero para ello deberán conectarse con la magia de nuevo y enfrentarse a una magia ancestral para lograr vencer. Aunque en el camino deberán sacrificar algo.

In this second installment—coming many years after the first—we follow the Owens sisters and their lives. After losing her second husband, Sally decides to turn her back on magic and live a quiet life with her two daughters, who remain unaware of their lineage. However, the past always comes knocking, and perhaps there is a way to break the curse of love that plagues the women of this family—but to do so, they must reconnect with magic and confront an ancient magic to emerge victorious. Though along the way, they will have to make a sacrifice.

Estaba deseando ver la película y cuando surgió la oportunidad ni lo dudé, lo que no tenía idea es en el golpe emocional que me causaría. A los 20 minutos de empezada yo ya estaba llorando, y así sucedió en algunos otros momentos. Me sentí muy conectada a la historia y me encantó esta segunda parte, aunque reconozco que tuvo sus detalles, que podría haber estado mucho mejor y que hay cosas que no me gustaron, pero en general la disfruté muchísimo.

I was really looking forward to seeing the movie, and when the opportunity came up, I didn’t hesitate—but I had no idea what an emotional impact it would have on me. Twenty minutes into the movie, I was already crying, and that happened a few other times as well. I felt very connected to the story and loved this sequel, although I’ll admit it had its flaws—it could have been much better, and there were things I didn’t like—but overall, I enjoyed it immensely.

Acá vemos a las hijas de Sally ya adultas que no tienen idea de la magia, no saben que son brujas y no tienen recuerdos al respecto. Sin embargo, cuando Kylie llega con un novio, y este tiene un accidente luego de decirle que lo quiere, ahí descubre toda la verdad detrás de las advertencias de no enamorarse jamás. Pero no está dispuesta a rendirse y es la que emprende el viaje para hacerle frente a su linaje y poder romper la maldición antes de que su amor fallezca.

Here we see Sally's daughters as adults—they have no idea about magic, don't know they're witches, and have no memories of it. However, when Kylie arrives with a boyfriend—and he has an accident right after telling her he loves her—she discovers the whole truth behind the warnings never to fall in love. But she’s not willing to give up, and she’s the one who sets out on a journey to confront her heritage and break the curse before her love dies.

Ahí me parece el primer error, porque Kylie no tiene idea de la magia, se acaba de enterar y es la que va corriendo a enfrentarse al peligro sin tener idea de cómo funcionan los hechizos, ni la magia. Y también me resulta curioso que ninguna de ellas dos haya tenido algún episodio de magia no controlada porque no es como que un día se levantaron y tenían poderes, siempre los tuvieron. Ahora, Sally hizo un hechizo para protegerse de la magia y esta quedó bloqueada, sin embargo, Gilly la seguía usando, al igual que sus tías, y nunca dejaron de visitarse. Así que es un misterio el saber cómo lograron mantener a esas chicas en el anonimato acerca de la magia.

That’s where I think the first mistake lies, because Kylie has no idea about magic—she just found out—and she’s the one rushing off to face danger without having a clue how spells or magic work. I also find it odd that neither of them has ever had an episode of uncontrolled magic, because it’s not like they woke up one day and suddenly had powers—they’ve always had them. Now, Sally cast a spell to protect herself from magic, and it was blocked; however, Gilly kept using it, just like her aunts, and they never stopped visiting each other. So it’s a mystery how they managed to keep those girls’ involvement with magic a secret.

Otra cosa que no me gustó es que le dieron todo el protagonismo a Kylie y a Antonia nada, tuvo un papel muy flojo para tratarse de una Owens, casi nada de participación con la magia. Me hubiera gustado que la incluyeran más, incluso que también hiciera el viaje para enfrentarse al mal y ayudar a su hermana, a su madre y a su tía.

Another thing I didn't like was that they gave all the spotlight to Kylie and none to Antonia; she had a very weak role for someone with the Owens name—she barely played a part in the magic at all. I would have liked them to include her more—I even wish she had gone on the journey to face evil and help her sister, her mother, and her aunt.

Algo que no discuto para nada fue la idea de Sally con nuevo interés amoroso, y esta vez alguien a su altura. Me gusto la incorporación de los hombres a la magia porque esta no es inherente solo a las mujeres, también puede haber hombres con ella. Tengo que destacar la química que había entre los dos actores, a mí me encantó, es más, hasta podría haber quedado muy impresionada yo antes que Sally. Es que ese actor tiene una mirada muy penetrante que te encandila un poco, no la culpo para nada a Sally jajaja.

One thing I don’t dispute at all was the idea of Sally having a new love interest—and this time, someone who’s her equal. I liked the inclusion of men in the magic because it’s not something inherent only to women; men can have it, too. I have to highlight the chemistry between the two actors—I loved it. In fact, I might even have been more impressed than Sally was. That actor has such a piercing gaze that it kind of dazzles you; I don’t blame Sally at all, hahaha.

Y, por supuesto, todo el camino emocional vino por el lado del amor entre hermanas. Me resultó muy hermoso recalcar este hecho porque es precioso y sigue siendo una forma de amor que, aunque no vuelvan a enamorarse, al menos se tendrían la una a la otra hasta el final. Lo mismo que pasó con las tías, ellas también fueron motivos de mis lágrimas, y las escenas de los flashback del pasado también golpearon en la nostalgia.

And, of course, the entire emotional journey stemmed from the love between sisters. I found it very moving to emphasize this fact because it’s beautiful and remains a form of love that—even if they never fall in love again—at least they would have each other until the very end. The same thing happened with the aunts; they, too, brought me to tears, and the flashback scenes from the past also struck a chord of nostalgia.

En fin, es una película que disfruté mucho, aunque tuvo sus detalles que no me convencieron tanto. Me encantó verla y creo que no será la última vez que lo haga. Así que está muy recomendada por mi parte.

All in all, it's a movie I really enjoyed, even though there were a few aspects that didn't quite win me over. I loved watching it, and I don't think this will be the last time I do. So I highly recommend it.
