Merry Christmas my friends! :-) Sorry I am late. I had been off from Steemit for about 10 days. Oh wow, what a record (for me)! I was so busy last week with Christmas preparation and I had been sick just before and after Christmas. It was awful. Gladly, I am now feeling better and ready to share with you some pictures of my simple Christmas dessert.

Since I wasn't feeling well, I decided to make something easy and light. My mom-in-law didn't ask me to bring anything and I knew she already prepared Bûche de Noël or Yule Log for dessert like she always does each year. But I really wanted to come with something, not empty handed. I chose to make croquembouche, a dessert from choux pastry piled into a cone and held together with caramel. At first, I wanted to make a higher croquembouche but I didn't have enough choux pastry and yet I made about 40 large choux pastry. I thought it'd be enough but I was wrong. Despite the short height, this was super good. All the family loved it! :-)

Besides Croquembouche, I also brought some meringue kisses in the shape of Christmas tree that I made the day before. I made it because I had some egg whites from my previous baking so I transformed them into meringue. I actually planned to make some Christmas cookies. I had started but all of my first batch cookies spread way too much and I felt kind of sad and I didn't feel like it anymore. I put then the rest of the dough in the freezer. I was already feeling unwell so I couldn't stay calm.

In Belgium, people normally have cougnou or Belgian Christmas pastry, at Christmas breakfast. The cougnou's traditional shape is supposed to remind a newborn baby Jesus, wrapped in a blanket. My mother-in-law never skips this tradition which is good for me because I love cougnou :-D

Anyway, I had a wonderful Christmas with family. What about you? I hope you had a great Christmas with your loved ones too :-)

Cheers,
