After saying a final goodbye to Mari, his parents, and KK, Akito returned to the real world alone. Although the main story ended without a post-credits cutscene, Akito found himself back in the haunted Tokyo near KK's apartment, and I'm ready to take on remaining side quests and demons.

Glowing with light, Mari began to fade away as Akito returned to the real world from that strange realm. Two figures with their faces covered walked slowly toward them.

It turned out to be their father and mother, arriving to take Mari away with them. Akito brought up their deaths, stating that he had never forgotten what happened and could never erase those memories.

He declared that he was going to keep living, even if it meant feeling weak at times, and that he would no longer pretend the pain was not there.

Neither the father nor the mother spoke a single word. Instead, his mother simply pointed out the route leading to the living world.

Akito touched Mari one last time, promising that he would see her again down the road. He vowed that the next time they met, he would live a good, full life.

Though I initially thought Mari might survive alongside Akito, he ultimately had to leave her behind with their parents, who departed in complete silence.

With the farewells over, Akito began making my way out of the area. Before completely fading away, KK asked Akito to speak with his wife and son to let them know he had never given up on them. KK advised Akito not to lose his way again, adding that no one possessed charm quite like his.

KK then departed, leaving Akito alone in his own body. Akito suddenly realized how much he would miss KK, having spent so much time sharing a physical body and fighting alongside him. Akito thanked KK for everything and wished him peaceful rest.

Searching through KK's belongings, Akito opened his wallet and found a family photograph showing KK alongside his wife and son.

Akito then walked out of the temple, that officially brought the main story to its conclusion. I was personally hoping for a cutscene or a post-credits sequence showing how all the vanished spirits across the city would return to their human bodies.

After waiting through the credits, I looked it up online and confirmed that the game doesn't feature any post-credits scene.

Even though the primary narrative had ended, the game dropped me right back into the night environment of Tokyo, placing me directly outside KK's apartment.

It seemed Akito had traveled there to fulfill his promise to KK's family. The open world remained filled with paranormal threats, offering plenty of remaining side content to explore.

Since I still enjoyed the gameplay loop, I decided I would return later to complete those extra missions. Plenty of hostile demons were still roaming the streets to fight, and various tengu were scattered across the rooftops to help me reach high grounds.

We'll continue in another post.
