Steaming, Christmas-smelling mulled wine is not only on the Christmas market the Renner: You can do it yourself with my three recipes. Then you know exactly how good the wine quality is and can determine the sugar content itself.
Comfortable warmth in the body, anticipation of Christmas awakens.
In addition to the classic red wine, there are also white mulled wine and variants without alcohol.
To make classic Christmas market mulled wine yourself, you need:
1 bottle of dry red wine (eg Pinot Noir)
1 orange
2 bars of Ceylon cinnamon
3 cloves
2-3 tablespoons of sugar, honey or agave syrup
Some capsules of cardamom to taste
optional: vanilla pod
For my first mulled wine recipe, you warm the red wine in a large saucepan on medium level. When making your own make sure that the red wine never cooks, otherwise the alcohol evaporates. If the heat persists, you may also develop the suspected carcinogen sugar hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF).
Add the remaining ingredients when warming up. Lemons also taste good instead of oranges - or you can combine both. If you like the intense taste of cardamom, you can add some capsules.
Then remove the pot from the heat and let it cook with all the ingredients for about an hour. Reheat (do not boil!) The beverage before serving and pour it through a sieve into the cups so that all the spices are collected.
It's so easy to make mulled wine yourself: Cheers!
If the classic is based on red wine, then the "white mulled wine" consists of ...? Right, with this recipe to make yourself, white wine forms the basis.
Recipe for white mulled wine:
1 bottle of white wine (eg Riesling)
1 orange
1 lemon
3 pieces of star anise
2 bars of Ceylon cinnamon
2-3 tablespoons of sugar, honey or agave syrup
With this recipe, you first rub the orange and lemon peel. Make sure not to rub off the white skin. This tastes bitter, I really only use the outer shell of the fruit for my recipe for white mulled wine.
Then press the juice of orange and lemon and put it together with the white wine in a pot. Add the spices and the sugar or honey and heat the whole thing slowly.
As always with mulled wine, please make sure that the liquid never BOILs.
Let it simmer for at least an hour and reheat it before serving.
Not only for children, this punch is a non-alcoholic alternative. Even for those who do not drink alcohol or just want to shut down their own alcohol consumption, this recipe is perfect for non-alcoholic mulled wine.
Non-alcoholic mulled wine recipe:
1 liter of grape or apple juice
1 stick Ceylon cinnamon
2 cloves
3 lemon slices
1 small organic apple (cut into small cubes)
some honey / sugar
Lets do it:
Heat the grape or apple juice with all ingredients except honey or sugar. Since fruit juices are usually already very sweet, even with their own fructose, you may not need additional sweetness. Therefore, at the end of the warm-up, eat the non-alcoholic mulled wine and then sweeten it first.
