RE: Fermentation starter bread (gluten-free)
Thank you! Next time I get a starter going and start making breads again I will try to remember to try and take good pictures.

RE: ANIMALS ON THE HOMESTEAD - MUSCOVY DUCKS
I prefer the meat of a pekin, but I've heard muscovys are so much easier to handle and I know they're very quiet birds. Pekins, on the other hand are very loud.

I've heard the Nigerian Dwarf has the best tasting milk, but the larger breeds produce more milk, and are better for meat. It's really important to meet your goats and if possible, their parents before

RE: ANIMALS ON THE HOMESTEAD - GUINEA FOWL
There is a local farm that had a poultry CSA last year. We got a couple of guineas one month and oh my goodness! I thought it might be more "gamey" like a duck or something, but they tasted like

Another thing about quail is different breeds can be pretty different. Using info from a local hatchery that has two varieties, the Bobwhite is a little bigger, but only lays 40-50 eggs per year. The Pharaoh

Something I've really wanted to find was someone who raises all different kind of egg-laying birds to do a taste testing video. I once found a video where a guy had like 2 dozen different eggs from various

RE: How to Make a Fermentation Starter Revisted!
I made a raisin and raw honey starter, and it's going great! Nice and fizzy. I have it in the fridge when I'm not using it, and I highly recommend taking it out and feeding it well before using it. I can

So I made a gluten free loaf with a starter I made based on your guide. I have a raisin and honey starter, and I pulled it out of the fridge and fed it after I woke up. Before I went to bed I mixed 1 cup

RE: Why Vegan: Environmental and Social Impact
A vegan diet, done right, can be very healing, but I don't think it's right for everyone. There are people that do better with a little bit of animal products in their diet. Also, I don't know about other

RE: Raising and Hatching Chickens Off Grid - New Generation of CHICKS!
I love this idea, but I'm not sure it's really feasible for most people. When you don't have a lot of land, having a giant mountain of compost is probably not the greatest idea. Not to mention the logistics

RE: Raising and Hatching Chickens Off Grid - New Generation of CHICKS!
Good brooder, not breeder. They lay well, but they don't hatch and raise their babies well. You can take their eggs and put them under a broody buff orpington though, and they'll hatch and raise them.
