It's a beautiful Sunday, and I am happy to be finally getting the pampering I deserve after a very busy week. On my way back from church, I thought of making something refreshing, and a tigernut drink crossed my mind. I couldn't get coconut, so I had to think of a fruit that will blend in well with the other tigernut ingredients.
Watermelon won the battle, and it was a good decision for me because the drink came out pretty well. The smooth touch of watermelon in the drink did magic, improving not just the taste but nutritional value as well.
Everyone knows by now how much I enjoy my homemade drinks because nothing beats preparing and enjoying your drink. It's always nutritious, hygienic, and cheap compared to ready-made drinks out there. This particular drink, for instance, cost me just nine hundred and fifty naira, but it still offers me better quality than anything I can find out there for that price.
I must say that this drink just added a spark to my day, pumping me with energy because I didn't even see myself putting this post out today, but here I am.
Ingredients:
Watermelon
Milk
Tigernut
Dates
Ginger
These are the ingredients used; they aren't much, but their outcome was magical.
Preparation:
I started by cleaning my ingredients. I had soaked the dates and tigernut in water earlier before the preparation time.
I got rid of the watermelon back and removed the seeds before cutting the fruit into smaller bits.
I poured a little quantity of water into my blender and also added the watermelon.
After properly blending the fruit, I got my sieve to drain the juice into a cup.
I filled my blender with the seedless dates, tigernut, and ginger. I added enough water to blend and blended them for about three minutes.
I got my sieve again and turned the content in the blender into it, with the sieve placed on the cup containing the watermelon juice.
I drained the tigernut juice and was already feeling the vibes at that point.
I turned my milk into the cup as well, and my drink was ready. I didn't have ice, so I had to refrigerate it for some minutes just to get it cool.
The drink was really satisfying and refreshing for me. It's my first time adding a fruit, and it looks like not seeing coconut was a pure blessing in disguise. I enjoyed my drink and can recommend it to anyone who loves watermelon flavour in drinks.
The nutritional value is well on point, and I bet you can't regret giving this drink a try.
