So far, the holiday has been an amazing one for me, and I won't deny how my holiday experience keeps getting better every year. Honestly, it is usually unplanned, but there is always something special that makes each year better than the previous one, and I really can't thank my family & friends enough for always making every holiday a memorable one.
Without you guys, the holiday is just another regular day for me, and I wouldn't wish that on myself. The time spent together, every bit of memory we create, is invaluable to me and will always be cherished.
Sadly, the holiday is coming to an end, and as much as I would love to extend it just for a few weeks, it has to end. It would be fun to still have my family around enjoying the holiday together, but life just has to move on, and this reminds me of a Yoruba adage that says, "The mouth would have loved to keep the meat longer, but the throat wouldn't just allow it."
It actually means that no matter how long we want to enjoy a pleasurable experience, it will eventually end whether we want it or not, and I think that's one of the sad realities about life, or isn't it funny how we prepare so much for the holiday only for us to end it when we wish it could have lasted longer? This is one of the reasons I am always keen on creating beautiful memories during the holidays because that's my souvenir. I can easily browse through these memories and smile long after the holiday is over.
Personally, the holiday isn't over yet because I still have my family around, undistracted by our life commitments. Things weren't like this some years ago because I didn't get to decide when my holiday ended since the company I worked for always resumed on the 2nd of January, except if it fell on a weekend. The only privilege I had then was to decide when my holiday starts but not when it ends. I usually wish things could be different, but back then, I didn't have a choice.
At the moment, every member of my family is still enjoying that family time, basking in the warmth and love of the season, but by the end of this week, everyone will be planning on returning to their commitments, and that's the end of the holiday for me as well.
I practically do not have any regrets, nor am I sad the holidays will eventually end because I believe it won't be my last with my friends & family. There will always be more holidays and lots of memories to be created in good health, love, wealth, and happiness. In addition, I had a great time despite choosing to have my usual simple holiday experience, so the holiday was a fulfilled one.
Like I mentioned earlier, life must continue whether we want the holidays to end or not. With numerous bills to pay, work must resume, so there isn't time to be lazing around. I still have a few days until the end of the holiday and will be making the most of it so the fun isn't over. I am using this opportunity to wish everyone a happy new year in advance.
