Ah the little blue bird app. It's always been a place full of quip-lashes and well-being dashes. When Twitter came about I was in the midst of raising toddlers, so I didn't pay it too much attention. Plus, I really don't dig sparring with strangers on the internet. It's hard to read a person when you are not really sure if you are even typing @ one.

So, long story short, I avoided Twitter for a long time.

However, in 2016 I found this really cool blockchain-based blogging place to hang, and in 2017 I found myself logging onto Twitter because I really believed in our community and wanted to help spread the word, even if I thought the prospect of anyone listening to my tweets was beyond amusing.

I'll be the first to admit, I didn't consistently post on Twitter, I just don't like it there. There is a desperate energy that permeates in a lot of the place. By desperate, I mean all sorts of things. Desperate to convert people to one's platform or ideals, desperate to zing someone with a witty piece of one ups-manship, desperate to mold the zeitgeist's accepted point of view, it honestly reminded me all of the jockeying that went on in every new school I went to, and I went to a lot of schools as a kid.

In the spirit of not being a negative ninny, I will admit there are some pretty dang awesome communities on the blue bird network, the writing and self-publishing sphere of Twitter is pretty cool, as is the tech, blockchain, homesteading, and self-development parts of the machine. And obviously the Hive part of the Twitterverse is just plain awesome, of course I am most probably and completely bias about that.

But honestly, the platform is not a realm where I wish to spend very much of my time. Aside from infrequently sharing some of my Hive posts there, I realized the other day that the most important function of my Twitter feed is it's sort of become my quote journal.

Sometimes when I am feeling a bit meh I will open up the app, head to my profile, and the first thing that hits me is a pinned quote that reminds me to get cracking. Marcus Aurelius had his Meditations, I have my Twitter feed. Interesting.

Definitely not meditating.

In reality, there are times I am a bit morose that I haven't or don't do more to help out the marketing of our very magnificent blockchain. I really admire the work acidyo@acidyo has done with POSH and others have done to promote our home on the web and all its awesome features, but to be truthful, I only have so much energy and really, really enjoy creating and writing.

The world of social media reminds me a lot of undergarments. We all have our preference, and none of our preferred choices are inherently bad. They, however, can be harmful. No one wants to be near someone who doesn't wash their drawers. The point being, it's all how you use it.

So I think I will be content in the fact that I am currently using my Twitter feed as my own personal inspirational quote journal and try not to be so hard on myself in regards to the concept that one cannot nor should not try to be all things. We all know what happens when you ask too much of an overstretched, tired pair of underwear. No one needs to see the end result of that.

Maybe I'll head over and tweet about this...馃槈

And as not most of the time, the cover image is from Pixabay, and the rest of the images in this post were taken on the author's not at all blue or chirpy iPhone.
