Today my wife cooked a delicious snack. Because this is the month of 'Ramadan' we as Muslims fasting from sunrise to sunset. In my place, it has become a tradition when "breaking the fast" dishes Snacks are a favorite menu.
The name of this snack is "Lumpia" or in English is Spring roll. Many kinds of "stuffing" from spring roll, such as meat, chicken, vegetables, eggs and some other food ingredients. But on this occasion I made vegetable spring rolls.
'Lumpia'' is food adaptation of the Chinese food Chun Juan (ju-en cuen). Chun means spring and Juan is scroll. Chun juan dish is served during Chinese New Year which falls in spring. This dish is very popular in eastern China, including Jiangxi, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Fujian, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong. For them, it's not just a taste but a value philosophy and the symbolic meaning it contains. Elongated shape and golden color after frying looks like gold bullion so spring rolls are considered a symbol of wealth.
Chun Juan is said to have existed since the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD), and became a dish in spring celebrations. At that time there were two types of chunjuan filling, namely carrots and celery which were made by the 'commoners' while people from higher social levels serve chunjuan with grilled smoked meat, spinach, eggs, sprouts, vermicelli, various fried foods and sauces. This snack then spread to various regions and acculturated with different cultures, including to Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia. International cuisine calls chunjuan as Spring Roll, while the name spring roll itself is taken from the word Lun bing which in Hokkien dialect reads Lun pia (lun means round, pia means cake). The word lun can also mean roll in Javanese, so lumpia or lun pia means cake in the form of a roll.
Now I will make spring rolls filled with egg and vermicelli vegetables. Okay, let's go straight to the cooking stage!
| Ingredients | |
|---|---|
| 1 Pack | Frozen spring roll skin |
| 2 | Carrot |
| 1 | Cabbage |

| 2 | Egg |
| 2 pieces | scallion |
| 10 | Shallot |
| 10 | Garlic |
| 1 teaspoon | Salt |
| 陆 teaspoon | Sugar |
| 陆 teaspoon | Pepper |
First of all we make the filling for the spring rolls. Thinly chop all vegetables except garlic and shallot, later I will grind it manually using "Cobek".
Soak the vermicelli in water, wait 10 to 15 minutes.
Heat vegetable oil then saute garlic, shallot with eggs, stir. then add carrots and cabbage. Lastly, add salt, sugar and pepper.
When it's cooked, add the scallions
After that we are ready to roll the spring rolls into delicious snacks. How to roll it please see this video
Then we fry the spring rolls until golden brown.

| 2 piezas | cebolleta |
| 10 | chalota |
| 10 | ajo |
