Collaboration: The action of working with someone to produce something. I think we all know the meaning of the word right? So, now we've got that out of the way I have to say that this post is not at all about a collaboration.; It's all about a single person's endeavour to hand-craft a product for another.
I refer to a fellow called @freedompoint a resident of America and the creator of the down under knife. So where do I fit into this? Well, the down under knife is indeed my knife. I'm down under, in Australia you see, and that's where the knife is headed.

Yesterday mad-genius @freedompoint revealed the completed product by video and I have to say that I am very pleased with the final result. It seems to be everything we discussed when coming up with the knife and as far as I can tell looks like it will handle everything I'll throw at it. You can see the reveal post here: Check it out y'all!
Today, after some back and forth on discord, looking at photos and generally celebrating freedompoint's awesomeness I made the payment for shipping and the knife itself via PayPal which seemed easy enough; The knife is now on its way to the post office for the 27 gazillion mile journey to Australia. I'm excited.
You guys may be looking at this knife, reading my excitement about receiving it and wondering what the hell...I get it. The thing is though, that for someone who uses a knife all the time having a well-made custom-built knife can mean all the difference. Could I have bought a production-line made knife? Of course! But it wouldn't really have much meaning and in this day and age would almost certainly not be as well-crafted. So I went custom. It will handle what I ask it to whether I'm hunting or out and about in the country camping etc.
I think it's also very cool that I have a record of how my knife came to be via the videos freedompoint did along the way, and that I have had a little input into the final product from a design and finish perspective. It's all very cool, and for a guy who's cutting, slashing and stabbing things all the time...Well, it will see a lot of use and will become a highly-valued item in my kit. My only concern is that I will like it so much I ask him to do more!
Anyway, I'd like to take some credit for the collaboration however I cannot. The credit goes to the craftsman @freedompoint who obviously applies his skill and attention to detail along with passion for knife-making to create his knives. I look forward to receiving it and will do a post once that happens.
Thanks for reading and all the best.
