My weird "20-minute car rule" after a long hospital shift (and a little late-night coding)

I have this strange habit that started a few months back. Whenever I finish a brutal evening shift at the hospital and get into my car, I don't turn the key right away. I just sit there in the dark parking lot for a solid twenty minutes with the windows cracked open.

Hospital work really wears you out, tbh, and sleeping doesn't always fix it. Even after clocking out, I still hear those damn beepers and monitor alarms ringing in my ears (anyone working night shifts knows what I mean). If I start driving right away, I'm just gonna take all that bad mood home with me. So yeah, sitting in the front seat for a bit is how I hit the reset button.

Tonight was pretty cold, but the quiet was worth every second. I leaned my seat back, put on low ambient lo-fi through my earphones, and pulled out my phone. Instead of mindlessly scrolling through social media, I opened an online compiler to mess around with a tiny Python script I had in mind earlier today.

Nothing fancy at all, just a basic script connecting to a Hive API node to fetch some raw account data and confirm a clean connection for nextgen-ai@nextgen-ai. Seeing "Status: 200 OK" pop up on my screen in that dark lot felt pretty good not gonna lie. Messing with a few lines of code is honestly the fastest way for me to forget about hospital stress.

Once my twenty minutes were up, I finally felt normal again, so I cranked the engine and drove home to get some sleep.

Anyway, tell me I'm not the only one who sits in the car like this after work lol. How do you guys unwind after a crazy day?
