Today is a special day. I my daughter's is turning 12 yeeey! Its been a tough journey for us.
I was in my last year of campus when I became pregnant. I was so naive then. My boyfriend (her daddy) was working and I loved him so. But he didn't feel the same for me. When I fell pregnant, he was not happy and he urged me to have the pregnancy terminated. I would like to say that I refused but I was scared of what my mother would do to me if she found out, so I agreed to terminate it.
Laying at the doctors table all alone and scared (boyfriend refused to come with me), he examined me and told me that the baby was either too big for the two months I had told him the pregnancy was or I was going to have twins. With this revelation, I told him that I could not go ahead with the termination. I got dressed and immediately got into a bus to go upcountry to visit my Mom. I stayed for one week and headed back to the city, very scared as I could not bring myself to tell Mom that I was pregnant. She called me the same day I got back and said she needed to talk to me. so following day, we met and she told me that she knew I was pregnant and that it was okay. I cried. She was/ is a tough woman and I could not believe she was accepting this baby.
The dad also accepted eventually and he supported me in terms of prenatal care and hospital bills etc. But he would not give money needed to buy clothes, baby cot, etc. My sisters had to chip in for that. He also refused to live with us once the baby was born and so we lived in a small tiny house with no furniture apart from the bed and the cot.
But God is faithful. I finally graduated and got my first job. It wasn't much, but I was able to provide for her as much as I could. Am also grateful to her dad as well because even though he didn't want this, he has continued to support me with things like school fees which I never have to worry about and he also pays for her nanny..and they share a birthday too! He is very proud of this:=)
Despite all the hardships, she has grown to be a beautiful talented little girl and she is a living testimony that God is forever faithful.
Blessed.
