This morning, she had a f1ght with her boyfriend. He was complaining of being broke and not having any money. He told her that he never agreed to her getting pregnant for a baby, that bringing a child into this world was totally outside his budget. He further told her that she should get up and start making money.
He told her that nobody should cook anything in the house again and that everyone should stay like that and stop looking for food from him. She asked him if she was jobless and he said yes, that she should look for something that paid better and do.
She is at her third trimester and yet nothing has been done in preparation for her coming child. She cannot afford important things that a baby would need when he or she is born. She was asked to go and do an insurance that will cover the expenses for her baby but she does not have the money. She had earlier advised her boyfriend not to invest all his money into business but he refused and thought that tommorow was always promising.
Now he is putting all the blames on her and seeing her as a burden. Actually she is making some money through odd jobs but the pay is not something that can carry her and the little one inside her womb. After complaining, her boyfriend later gave her N1,000 note to buy something for herself but she rejected the money. Note that this N1,000 note cannot buy three cups of good rice in the local market. Our cup is the measurement of a small tin of peak milk. The money was just to buy a snack like biscuits for chewing. She rejected the money from him and ignored him till he left the house. She felt like packing her little stuff out of his house and not turning back, but she wondered how she will survive with the child knowing fully well that she would not be fully welcomed in her parent’s house and she was not making any stable income. She paused a little and let out a tear down her cheeks. She was going through a hard time. It looked like she actually forced herself into the life of her boyfriend.
She said that when she was still at the higher institution was when she met her boyfriend and he convinced her about love and said he wanted to meet with her parents that he wants to marry her. She asked him to have a rethink about his love statements and decisions but he said he was sure. She took him to her parents and he made his declaration known officially and even started to perform some marital rights until he paused somewhere.
She graduated from the University, got a small job and later on, she took in for him. She realized she was pregnant after two months of conception and when her boyfriend confronted her about the pregnancy, she felt pity and love for the baby that she could not tamper with it. She decided to keep the baby against his will, and now she is getting it hot from him.
Most times she stares into space and thinks about the future, her fate and the fate of her unborn child. All she is praying for is for, is a safe delivery when the time finally comes, she is no longer afraid of loosing her relationship. She just wants herself and her unborn child to be fine.
She believes she will get a better job or a remote one soon. He came back bearing gifts, she rejected his gifts, he apologized sincerely for his outburst and she forgave him and collected the gifts and they lived happily ever after.
