Some recent events made me think of how life is changing and with it, your chances as well.

Every era is a new era and is different from the previous one in so many ways. Our new era is a digital one and even the illiterates are participating in it as they can learn how to use a mobile device for limited purposes. Limited to their capabilities I mean.

The trend is now to try to get your X account monetized as it seems like it is seen as a huge achievement. The conditions have changed recently and some people are willing to go to any length to get their account or content "trending" and when I say to any length, that literally means do anything.

X has become a very attractive place along with Telegram, especially for traders. I'm only on the first one, or better said I'm on both, but only use X as that's where my interests are. People use it for different purposes, some to have some fun, others to pick on whoever is posting something that they can pick on, some for business purposes and there are those who are sharing knowledge for free too. I'm in the last category and doing that to get better at what I'm doing.

Over the years I've read a lot of posts, came in contact with a lot of people, have learnt a lot and even got head hunted for a job. This is not a rare thing, many are offering collaborations and even though a good part of these offers are scams, there are still good opportunities, if you know how to profit from them.

Social media platforms came into our lives as a means to share and connect with people and I bet we all have shared stupid things that we have found funny or interesting back in those early days. Most likely you've heard so many saying, "It's my account, I share what I want", which is true, and so many think their content is visible only to their closed circle. Well, that could not be further from the truth.

Without being a conspiracy theorist or someone who is afraid of their own shadow and sees danger at every corner, I can tell you, there are at least three categories that may be watching you. One is made of those who find your content interesting or really stupid and either like it, or make fun of you behind your back. The other category is made of those interested in recruiting for whatever business they are in and the third is hackers, scammers, thieves, pedophiles, you name it.

The third category is a serious one and has to be treated as such, which is why I will never understand people posting their every move on every social media platform, photos of their home and what's even worse, photos of their kids. We could talk about this all day long, but I'm going to move on to the other categories saying that you need to be extra careful and decide what's more important for you, a few fake and meaningless likes, or your and your family's safety.

The category I'd like to focus on today is the one made of those looking for collaborations, brand ambassadors, hiring or partnering and I'd like to exclude the fake and abusive ones as that's another sad topic for another day.

The reason this topic popped up in my mind today is because I came across an account evaluation someone I know and appreciate, shared. This type of evaluation in details is new to me as I've never seen one and only knew vaguely what those interested in hiring are looking for, but seeing the details was valuable to me and made me think of how many are getting this wrong from the start and regretting taking the route they have, but often it's too late.

Your digital footprint is visible to everyone and it is there to stay, unless you clean it up, remove it, but even so, sometimes it's too late and serves for nothing. Those who are really interested in hiring, take the effort, scroll back and check everything, literally everything as associating their names with someone who can do more harm than good is not what they would do. Deleting unwanted content can only harm you as anyone can make a screenshot and save it in case it'll be needed, so better think twice about what you're posting as you never know when the opportunity of your life comes knocking on the door.

There's a very interesting lesson I've learnt from a trader that is a respected name in the industry, a couple of years ago. He said he's never muting or blocking anyone on X (Twitter back then) and he shared why. It was shocking to say the least, because some make a sport out of annoying and harassing others for fun, so blocking them is a healthy move, but he was right. He said years ago, there was an account that has been provoking and picking on him on every possible occasion. He didn't block it and after some time, like a year, they asked him to trade on their behalf and granted him access to a huge amount of trading capital. When I say huge, I don't mean hundreds of thousands, but above that. This was real by the way, it wasn't a scam like it happens so often these days and he started a collaboration with them. Looking back, they wanted to put him to the test and he passed it with flying colors.

Back to the detailed analysis I saw today, once again it proves that "substance over form" rules! The way the report dismantled the activity of the account was simply amazing. Chasing meaningless likes and building fake audience can take you so far and numbers are not everything. We've had several posts on Hive, talking about trying to monetize their X account and 5 minutes is enough for you to realize they are never going to get there and even if they do, they won't earn a penny with the content they are posting.

Recruiters have been checking online media presence and content of candidates for some time now, head hunting has also moved to the online space, so you never know who's watching you and why.

Lucky me, I'm not gunning for any position and not planning to have my own trading community either. For me this is pure fun and experience building on X, but I'm listening and learning from those worth paying attention to, to build my account the right way. If I succeed, it'll be for my own satisfaction, nothing more. This is another game, another challenge, a very tough one, but it's fun as well, especially when there's no pressure. I've been told X is the most difficult to earn at, and even the big accounts are earning very little, compared to what you can make in one trade, in a couple of hours, so you can imagine the disappointment of those posting and talking sh*t, in hope of getting more audience.

Building something solid because that's the right thing to do should be the goal, not just spiking the numbers, hoping it'll look good. Whatever you do online is impacting your future, so better acknowledge it.
